The Archies is a desi twist to the famous American comics of the same name and poses towards being an interesting live-action musical!
Zoya Akhtar has always been a director willing to tap into new genres and give fresh faces a chance in the industry. Earlier today, she took to her Instagram to announce the beginning of her upcoming film 'The Archies' that stars B-Town's star kids, Suhana Khan (Shahrukh Khan's daughter), Khushi Kapoor (Sridevi's daughter), and Agastya Nanda (Amitabh Bachchan's grandson). The film is produced by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti under their production house, Tiger Baby Films, and will be released on Netflix. The streaming platform has partnered with Archies Comics and it will be an Indian live-action musical. Zoya captioned her post as "Back To The Future" while announcing the film which could probably mean that there could be time-travel involved in the plot of the film or just the nostalgia of revisiting the famous Archies Comic characters.
Although the cast has not been officially announced yet, the pictures surfaced on social media a few weeks ago of the three-star kids dressed up in their characters. So far it looks like Suhana Khan will be playing the role of Veronica Lodge while Khushi Kapoor and Agastya Nanda will be adorning the characters of Betty Cooper and Archie Andrews respectively. The film is set in 1960s India. We have previously seen other famous adaptations of the American comics such as Riverdale which is a rather dark version of the story and the series is currently streaming on Netflix but Zoya's version of the comics will be a coming-of-age light-hearted musical film.
