An official adaption of the Israeli series, Kvodo, Your Honor is back with a second season, fails to match the original one.
Based on the Indian Law System, Your Honor on Sony LIV is set in Ludhiana, Punjab, and tells the story of a reputed judge, Bishan Khosla who breaks the law ten times over to keep his son from going to jail with a half-baked plan that would never work in 2021. At a time when we have a masterpiece like Sacred Games, cop conspiracies and rival gang-based TV series need to up their game with well-written scripts, casting, and cinematography for starters!
In Season 2, we follow Bishan Khosla (Jimmy Sheirgill) making questionable decisions yet again starting with shooting Satnam Mudki (Anuj Singh Duhan) in broad daylight in a park. Before you know it, Judge Saab is standing in front of two new gang leaders, Harpreet (Mahie Gill) and Gurjot (Gulshan Grover) who plan on using him to their advantage in exchange for his safety and that of Abeer. While each cliffhanger leaves you a little curious, you're soon met with confusion and disappointment when this series just doesn't pick up.
Directed by E. Niwas, Your Honor has a good plot but the script feels undercooked and naive. Today, we have CCTVs across the country especially on highways and main roads, and a judge with enough experience under his belt would be very well aware of that. Instances like these make it hard to take 'Your Honor' seriously. Season 2 seems to move at a decent pace unlike the previous season but it lacks decent dialogues and conviction. Over the 5 episodes released on Sony LIV in season 2, you get to watch absolutely nothing different on-screen. Mahie Gill as Harpreet and Gulshan Grover as Gurjot are as unmemorable as the entire cast in season 1.
You don't need to watch season 1 before you watch this one. It's one of those TV series where you can watch any random episode and you'll know what's up!
