he fell harder

‘She fell first but he fell harder’ is probably one of the most romantic tropes to exist and these K-dramas are proof!

This one's for all the ladies out there who have fallen deeply in love first and just waited for your man to realise it too. You know that feeling you get when you're falling for someone? You can actually feel your stomach getting butterflies, you lose sleep and suddenly everything feels romantic. Just like how they show it in the movies. All of us become Naina from Kal Ho Naa Ho singing 'Kuch toh hua hai, kuch ho gaya hai'. 'She fell first he fell harder' is probably one of the most popular romantic tropes shown across the globe. It simply means the female protagonist falls in love first but the male protagonist's feelings are much more intense when he realizes that he's in love with her too. In a world where all of us are looking to find ‘the one’, it's cute to see love being reciprocated on-screen the way we’d always imagined for ourselves. But there are so many different ways one can go about with showing this arc.

For instance - Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is the evergreen example that lives rent free in our heads. This playful enemies to lovers arc is shown via them constantly indulging in silly banter until Anjali realizes she's in love with Rahul and eventually his heart skips a beat while looking at her too. The things they found annoying about each other suddenly become the things they can’t live without. Another way of portraying this is when the female protagonist has always been in love with the guy and it's that hidden love that blossoms into something beautiful over the years. We've all been Sanju from Main Hoon Na at some point in our lives. But it’s actually empowering and refreshing to watch a woman confess her love first to the man amongst the plethora of on-screen couples where only the male lead is shown to be this beacon of romance! Just like Bollywood, K-dramas too have done justice to this genre over the years!
