It’s not just the main leads in K-dramas that have your heart, sometimes the child actors carry the series on their shoulders as well. Here’s proof!
K-dramas are well known for starring some of the most talented child actors we’ve ever seen. I know how many times I've shed tears myself when a child in a K-drama has emotionally impacted me through a scene. It makes your heart reach out to them. They’re also some of the most adorable kids you’ve ever seen! They have that pure innocence in their eyes which makes it the main reason why you go back to watching that K-drama. It immensely helps elevate the storyline and because these child actors do not have much to worry about in terms of their image and being politically correct, like the lead actors would, they’re able to say the most honest dialogues with no burden on them at all. They’re certainly not ones to be taken lightly just because they’re kids; they can bring just as much if not more to the table than the lead actors of a K-drama!

Here are some who stand out in the K-drama world!
Kim Joon - Hospital Playlist
In Hospital Playlist, Kim-Joon plays Lee Woo-Joo aka Ik-Jun’s son. He was being raised solely by his dad and for a kid that young, he was rather empathetic and understood his father’s situation pretty well. He had the cutest relationship with his dad and it was hilarious when he told him that he has a girlfriend and his dad should get one too!
Go Do-Yeon - Hometown Cha Cha Cha
Choi Bo-Ra played by Go Do-Yeon was this extroverted kid who loved being friends with everyone and got excited over the smallest of things. She definitely added a lot to Hometown Cha Cha Cha’s light hearted appeal and the countryside vibe bustling with small families that it was going for!
Ye-Jin and Seo-Jin - Good Bad Mother
Ki So-Yu and Park Da-On play Ye-Jin and Seo-Jin respectively in the show. I remember while watching Good Bad Mother, I used to wait for their scenes and it gave me much needed comfort after a long work week. Their smiles feel like a warm hug and I wish could see more of them on-screen!
Park So-Yi - The Atypical Family
Seeing Park So-Yi as Bok In-Ah in Atypical Family was rather interesting! Her character not only kept the ‘Bok’ family together but also played a crucial point in the story. Park So-Yi looks like an innocent shy kid who could be walked all over but once she takes a stand for herself, she is not one to mess with.
Oh Eun-Seo and Cho Yeo-Joon - Love Next Door
As the younger versions of Bae Seok-Ryu and Choi Seung-Hyo in the show, Oh Eun-Seo and Cho Yeo-Joon gave us a lot of context about their relationship. It is difficult not to smile when you see the two acting like best friends and being protective of each other!
Oh Eun-Seo, Shin Seo-Woo and Choi Jae-Yoon - Family By Choice
The trio plays younger versions of Yoon Joo-Won, Kim San-Ha and Kang Hae-Joon on the currently trending Family By Choice! Oh Eun-Seo has made it to this list twice and rightfully so because at just 7 years old, she has given back to back remarkable performances this year. She makes quite an impact in Family By Choice as well and it’s tough to look at anybody else when she is in the frame. Shin Seo-Woo and Choi Jae-Yoon also understood their assignments even in emotionally heavy scenes that could be triggering even for adults!
Choi Ja-Woon and Jung Min-Joon - A Virtuous Business
Kwon Min Ho (Jeong-Suk’s Son) and Jang Dong-U (Lee Ju-Ri’s son) are also the current talk of the town with A Virtuous Business trending on Netflix. Both sons of single mothers in the show, Choi Ja-Woon and Jung Min-Joon show how differently kids can react to the same situation. While Dong-U is super mature and too ahead of his times, Min-Ho constantly needs to be coddled by his mother, but at the end of the day, seeing them both on-screen playing best friends adds a cute angle to the show.
