With ‘Happy, BTS’ Jin becomes the last member of the group to release a solo album. Here’s why it was totally worth the wait!
BTS’ eldest member Jin was the first one to enlist in the military back in December 2022, and completed his service this year in June. Ever since then he has been working towards putting his solo album together which was released last Friday. The title of the album is called ‘Happy’, just like the happy aura he brings to the fandom and the joy he spreads around while he is on stage. The album, in total, consists of 6 songs out of which ‘Running Wild’ is the main track. 'Happy, BTS' features a variety of songs ranging from Pop to R&B. Running Wild's music video revolves around him enjoying the best day of his life since he knows that the world is coming to an end. He chooses to spend that day with his dog, doing things that they love like being at the beach or going on a drive, in a way passing on the message of spending time with your loved ones and doing the things you love.
In addition to this, he also had two special concerts over the weekend where he performed all his songs from the album and some of his old hit classics like Moon, The Astronaut and his most popular song ‘Super Tuna'.Wendy from Red Velvet, who he has collaborated with for one of his songs ‘Heart on the Window’, also made a special appearance at the concert, and them harmonizing together was something we were waiting for! He also explained each song from the album at his concert, his thought process behind it and what that one keyword was that got him started on every song. Ever since his album was released, he has gained millions of streams on platforms like Spotify and Itunes. He also did a ‘Running Wild’ dance challenge on TikTok along with fellow BTS member J-Hope.
Without further ado, let’s deep dive into what each song on his album stands for!
Running Wild
The track has a christmassy beginning and the song overall has Jin explaining to us how to make ordinary moments in life extraordinary. It talks about going back to the moments you love on a rainy day or just spending as much time as you can with your loved ones, until you cannot anymore.
I’ll Be There
It is exactly what the title suggests, it is Jin’s way of telling his fans that he will be there for them, no matter what! He will sing for us until he can and the entire vibe of the song is so peppy that you won’t be able to stop yourself from smiling or shaking a leg or two.
Another Level
While the first two tracks are rather feel-good and uplifting songs, with Another Level, heavier beats and guitar riffs come into the picture. Jin uses this track as a metaphor for pushing through life’s struggles and reaching another level just like reaching another level of a video game. It is about reaching new heights and opening new chapters in life.
Falling
The track features Japanese band ‘One Ok Rock' members Taka and Toru in this indie rock piece that talks about falling for someone and having a desire for them.
Heart On The Window (with Wendy)
One of the most soulful and melodious tracks on the album. Hearth on the Window is about falling in love and wearing your heart on your sleeve for them. Wendy from Red Velvet’s voice just helps elevate the track further and their voices blend beautifully together in this one.
I Will Come To You
The last track of the album is something that he wrote while he was serving in the military, it's about the time where he missed Armys and performing for them on stage. In the song, he mentions how he will eventually return and if we ever need him, he’ll be there for us. It encourages his listeners and makes them feel loved, which is also an overall attitude of the album.
