"Shame on us collectively as a nation...", says Vrajesh Hirjee and rightly so. With the number of media and newspaper reports on some young girl or a woman being gruesomely raped and murdered becoming common, the nation is filled with rage and anger. The nation was shocked to its core when a 19-year-old girl was gang-raped and assaulted in the most heinous way possible. We were left questioning the officials when her body was cremated in the middle of the night taking away her family's right to say their last goodbye. And several other such horrifying cases prompted actor Vrajesh Hirjee to take to Instagram a share a message through a powerful poem.
The actor pointed out at the people from the upper caste who protested for the accused who was named in the case. He also went on to mention the number of rape cases that were reported in UP within 2 days. Starting off by mentioning the news as a sad gift to Mahatma Gandhi on his birthday the actor recited a poem by Pushyamitra Upadhyay. The poem that reads 'Suno Draupadi Shastra Utha Lo, Ab Govind Na Aayenge' states just what the entire nation feels at the moment. Sadly, the present times have once again highlighted that women are unsafe in this country and are left to defend themselves.
