Motivational speaker and disability rights activist Virali Modi is inspiring people to be the best version of themselves.

Named among BBC's 100 women list for her petition to make Indian Railways disability friendly and more accessible for them in 2017, Virali Modi is working her way towards bringing a change with her work as a disability rights activist. After returning from the US, Virali suffered a Coma following malaria that affected her ability to walk. However, she has not let her disability come in the way of living her life and inspiring people. She is the brainchild behind the campaign promoting accessibility for disabled '#MyTrainToo' and '#RampMyRestaurant'. Her campaign encouraged the Kerala government to create a barrier-free railway station.

We had a quick chat with Virali Modi and here's all she had to share with us:

What made you start creating content? And when did you start creating content?

"I believe that there aren’t many disabled Indian influencers on Instagram. I started by just uploading random pictures and then started creating content that helps people understand that those with disabilities are normal individuals. I started creating content in 2017."

What makes your content stand out?

"Being a disabled individual makes my content stand out."

How do you choose what to promote on your feed and what not to?

"I only promote and/or do collaborations with brands or organizations if I think their message is suitable for my followers."

One instance/experience that made it all worthwhile?

"When I started getting opportunities from prestige colleges to give motivational talks about my journey and failures and success."

What does a regular day look like?

"My days vary. I usually start my day off by going to the gym, answering e-mails and replying to comments, creating content ideas, and ending the day with hanging out with friends."

How do you make moolahs?

"By collaborations and motivational talks."

Today is #InternationalDisabilityDay! In my opinion, we need to change the terminology behind disability. We’re not handicapped, disabled, divyang, specially abled, differently abled, and/or physically challenged. We’re normal. WE. ARE. NORMAL. Labels are for items in the grocery store! Stop giving us labels. We have names, use them. When you talk about us to someone, the first thing you say doesn’t have to include our disability. If you REALLY need a label, then ask the person who has the disability what term they prefer. For me, it’s disabled. Why? Because EVERYONE has a disability. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU. I’m not different than you, which is why I don’t prefer differently-abled. And tbh my disability is my capability to mess up basic addition. Where do you get ideas for your videos from?

"I don’t make videos, I just post on Instagram. On the rare chance that I go live on Instagram, I just answer questions that my followers have."

Weirdest brief ever received?

"I haven’t received anything weird, yet!"

If not an influencer, what would you be?

"Probably a doctor or a content writer."

Message/tips for upcoming bloggers

"Just be true to yourself!"
