Vir Das is all set to develop and star in an American Country Music Comedy with Sam Laybourne that will be backed by Fox.
Fox is all set with Vir Das and Sam Laybourne to develop an American Country Music Comedy, titled “Country Eastern". The show will be a single-camera show for which the script commitment is already locked with a penalty. Das would not only star in the show but will also be one of the co-writers of the show with Laybourne. The story apparently will follow a young wealthy man from India who is on the verge to restart his life with his family in America. And they choose Memphis, Tennessee as the place to restart their life as well as for the young man to pursue his interest in country music. But this isn't as easy as it looks because he's absolutely terrible at country music and knows nothing about living in the countryside and also the USA.
Sam Laybourne is also the showrunner while being an executive producer with Vir Das. Other executive producers of the show include big names like Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, Akiva Schaffer, Ali Bell of Party Over Here, and Reg Tigerman. But CBS Studios and Fox Entertainment will take on the role of being producers of the show.
Vir Das has not just made a name for himself in India but also is high-rated and famous in the USA. He will also be next seen in the Judd Apatow film, The Bubble.
