Varun Dhawan movies have been quintessential Bollywood mass entertainers for a decade now and when better than his birthday to talk about some of his most popular roles played till date?
After being known simply as his father's son, Varun Dhawan has now made a name for himself, surpassing his father’s too. And there’s one thing you can always expect from Varun Dhawan movies - being hooked to every scene that he's a part of. He truly gives it his all when he is playing a role and the conviction comes through on the big screen as well. He has gone from assisting Karan Johar in My Name is Khan to making his debut with him in Student of the Year. Since then, he has given multiple blockbusters and became a bankable name to bet on. Not every film he's done is an intellectual masterpiece but the audience still came to see him to take their minds off their monotonous lives and that kind of an actor wins at the end of the day. Apart from acting, he is also known for promoting and marketing his films really well, be it going to events or making fun challenges on social media that are constantly on our feeds, he knows how to keep his fans happy and spread his infectious energy everywhere.

On his birthday, we're rewatching some of these fan favourites!
Student of the Year - Netflix
This will forever be our favourite because some movies just never get old. Varun plays Rohan Nanda who wants to steer away from his father’s business and become a musician. This movie gave us a good teen drama that we didn't otherwise have in Indian cinema.
Bhediya
In his most recent one, we've seen him in a never seen before avatar in Bhediya as he makes an attempt to join the horror universe created by Jio Studios.
Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania- Prime Video
Both Humpty and Badri are boys next door who the female protagonist falls in love with. Both the movies were rom-coms that created a loyal fan base called ‘Varia’ who shipped the two actors for their chemistry.
Jug Jugg Jeeyo - Prime Video
From being known for doing romantic movies to playing a character that wants a divorce from his partner, Jug Jugg Jeeyo was truly a first for him. The movie addresses the topic of divorce and the stigma attached around it in Indian families.
ABCD2- Netflix
While there are many actors who are good at their job, there are few who can really shake a leg on-screen seamlessly and Varun Dhawan is definitely one of them. ABCD2 is a film about dance and he fit the role so perfectly. Even years later, we all remember Shraddha and his beautiful choreography in Sunn Sathiya.
Badlapur- Prime Video
Varun’s character in Badlapur, Raghu is a dark and revenge driven character where he is on a quest to bring his wife and child’s murderers to justice.
Sui Dhaaga- Prime Video
After his larger than life characters he took a complete 360 degree turn by playing the wholesome small town character of Mauji Sharma. The story is about a married couple, both of whom are tailors and unexpectedly make it big in the world of fashion.
October- Prime Video
While Dan is an underrated role, the film has aged better with time. Dan was a character written by a woman through and through who fell in love with Shiuli and her life in the most unconventional way possible.
Judwaa 2 and Coolie No. 1- Disney+Hotstar
Both are remakes of his father’s film and are typical entertainers which has been his forte since day 1. With bright costumes and catchy songs, his character easily grabs the attention of the audience and brings them to their nearest cinema houses.
