Maharashtra's CM, Uddhav Thackeray made a statement on the mob lynching incident in Palghar that lead to the death of three people.
Three men were killed in the Palghar district of Maharashtra as they were beaten to death under the suspicion of being thieves or child abductors. The incident took place on April 16th, 2020 but it caught everyone's attention after a video recording of the same started doing rounds on the internet.
According to several reports, the men were police can be seen trying to rescue the men from the mob lynching but the three men lost their lives in the attack. Two out of the three men who died were Hindu godmen and the third person was their driver.
Rumours about religion being the cause of the mob lynching in Palghar were rife on the internet. Maharashtra's Home Minister, Anil Deshmukh gave out a statement to end the rumours saying that the attack wasn't communal. Adding to that he also revealed that the victims and the attackers belonged to the same religion.

While the horrific incident in Palghar made people question the lack of safety precautions in the state, Maharashtra's CM, Uddhav Thackeray said that the culprits behind the mob lynching will be dealt with, with the utmost severity.
The latest updates suggest that two policemen have been suspended in connection to the Palghar mob lynching case.
According to a report in the leading daily known as Economic Times, Uddhav Thackeray responded to the questions about the state's actions in the incident and said, “People are asking what action have we taken in this incident. We have taken action. We are not sitting idle. We have arrested 100 people, nine of them are minors. We have arrested the five prime accused. Rest assured, we will not spare any of them,” said Uddhav.
