The Buckingham Murders trailer

The trailer of Hansal Mehta's The Buckingham Murders, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan in a detective avatar, has just dropped and it looks as thrillingly inviting as it is layered with a socially relevant message!

If The Buckingham Murders teaser left you wanting to know more, the film's trailer, released just a few hours ago, will satiate you and also leave you hungry for more. Set in the damp, dense and dark backdrop of Wycombe, southerneast London, the trailer hints at the film unveiling itself as a classic whodunnit thriller, where the death of a young child is being investigated by Detective Jaspreet Bamra, aka Jass (Kareena Kapoor Khan) and a Muslim teenager is arrested for being associated with it. However, amidst all the communal tension, there is much more to the case than meets the eye, which Jass needs to figure out and go through the many suspects that come under scrutiny while sorting out her complexes and people's biases.

According to the trailer, the film looks like it explores complicated communal issues in a foreign land where Sikhs and Muslims fight each other. But more than that, it seems to touch on the topic of how human beings are the vilest and darkest creatures, as you never know what's really going on in someone's mind, even if they're your neighbour. The style that Hansal Mehta and his team seem to have adopted looks like one we often see in whodunnit thrillers made in the West, and why not? It is based in Buckingham after all!

The Buckingham Murders releases in theatres on September 13, 2024!
