The OG gang of Chanderi misfits is back in Stree 2 to fight off yet another ghost with comedy and continue the legacy of horror-fantasy storytelling!
With Stree, we were left with questions about Shraddha Kapoor's character- whether she is a witch or has now become stree herself. And it looks like we will get our answers soon as the much-awaited trailer of Stree 2 has finally dropped in! With the old cast of Rajkumar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee returning back to the village of Chanderi, the mammoth legacy left behind by the first film continues on. But only this time around, it seems that it's not just going to be humans vs ghosts but a ghost vs a ghost!
According to the trailer, in Chanderi Purana, it is clearly written that after when stree goes away, the one who made her a sex worker will inevitably return. Hence the attank of Sarkate is at an all-time high in the village, and it is women who are not safe anymore as they are being kidnapped left, right, and centre. Then, to save the girls and lift the hypnosis of Sarkate above from all village men, Vicky and his gang need the help of his long-lost love, Shraddha Kapoor, who conveniently returns before the maha pooja. But she and this gang of misfits are not enough to fight off giant Sarkate, so stree must return to protect the villagers rather than haunt them.

As the crazy, innocent love of Rajkumar Rao continues, so does the mysteriousness of Shraddha's character. While Pankaj Tripathi gets the most delicious comedy lines to throw, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshaki Khurrana maintain their goofy, loyal selves as friends. In Stree, the men were in danger, and we got schooled in a lesson about respecting women, but in Stree 2, it's the women who are in danger, so it would be interesting to see what we all get schooled in. But for now, the trailer looks inviting, with all its comedic gags hitting the right mark with the mystery of the Sarkate vs Stree!
Coming from Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe, which has given us Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya sorts of films, Stree 2 is here to take us on yet another ride of a folklore tale of fighting with ghosts and myths while tickling our bones. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the film will be released on Independence Day, i.e. August 15th, 2024! After all, who wouldn't want to be free from ghosts then?
