The 'Kalki 2898 AD' trailer unveils a dystopian future where Kashi is humanity's last bastion. With stunning visuals and a star-studded cast, will this ambitious film break new ground for sci-fi in India?

The trailer of the highly anticipated film 'Kalki 2898 AD' is finally here and it seems to be offering us a grandiose experience. The film, directed by Nag Ashwin, boasts a stellar cast including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Saswata Chatterjee. Set in a dystopian future, the film is set in Kashi, the last city on earth, ruled by a tyrant. As is visible in the trailer, the film seems to be blending traditional Indian elements with futuristic sci-fi aesthetics along with a lot of high-octane action sequences.

The trailer for Kalki 2898 AD reveals a dystopian future where Kashi is the last city left on Earth, filled with people surviving grim conditions. Meanwhile, in the world of elites i.e. the Complex, everything flows in abundance. Deepika's character, Sumati, is about to give birth to a baby who is prophesied as a deity. Prabhas plays Bhairava, a selfish bounty hunter ordered to get Sumati. The trailer hints at a clash between Bhairava, Sumati and Sumati’s protector Bujji (Amitabh Bachchan). Lastly, we catch a glimpse of Kamal Hassan's character, possibly the powerful dictator named Supreme Yaskin.

Produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, Kalki 2898 AD has been in the limelight for quite some time for its ambitious scale and high production value. The trailer confirms the film’s grand scale. The film’s music, composed by Mickey J. Meyer, also complements the trailer. Indian movies have time and again tried to venture into science fiction without any major successful results. Will Kalki 2898 AD finally change the scope of sci-fi in India? Let's hope so!

Kalki 2898 AD will be released theatrically in India on June 27, 2024.
