Think twice before you tweet!
Twitter, is no longer considered as a personal opinion page in India. Sometimes whatever you post is for others to judge. In these couple of months, many people were back lashed on Twitter for stating their individual views.

Here are a few examples of what happened with public influencers when they said what they wanted to. Freedom of speech lost somewhere in melancholy?

Salman Khan

Bajrangi Bhaijaan posted about more than 10 tweets saying that it should be Tiger Memon who should be executed instead of his brother, Yakub Memon. His statements were taken under surveillance by his followers forcing him to retract his statement.

Digvijay Singh

What a coincidence! Funerals of Two Indian MuslIms on the same day. Dr Kalam who has made every Indian proud of his achievements for India — digvijaya singh (@digvijaya_28) July 30, 2015

Congress’ secretary Digvijay Singh had an opinion on the decision taken by the Indian Government and gave a piece of unrequited advice; he also administered religious angles in his tweet  The real objective of Singh behind his tweets are still unclear. While many supported him, he was also bashed by a lot of Twitteratis.

Shashi Tharoor

We must fight against terrorism w/all the means at our command. But cold-blooded execution has never prevented a terror attack anywhere. — Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) July 30, 2015

Speaking about politics, Shashi Tharoor went on to comment against the whole execution process and was also ‘saddened’ with the news of a human being hung. By expressing his individual opinion on a social media platform, he tried swimming with the sharks.

Shruti Seth

Prime Minister’s ‘Beti bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana’ campaign went viral on Twitter in June. It invited a lot of attention, but with more attention comes more controversy. Shruti Seth wasn’t happy with only the campaigns and wanted to see a change. Her Twitter was then filled with extremists abusing her, her family and her decisions.

With so many people threatening her and making her look like a ‘she-devil’, Shruti then decided to retract her tweets.

Neha Dhupia

Shruti Seth was not the only to be targeted by Twitter extremists; Neha Dhupia has also been a part of the word of wars. She Tweeted about the government of India in respect to #SelfieWithDaughter and Monsoon traffic in Mumbai.  According to her, she took Twitter to vent out her frustration.

Her Tweets not only fired wars on her Twitter profile but also BJP workers started protesting outside her house.

Save yourself from all this fiasco and think twice before Tweeting.
