The Wonka trailer shows Timothée Chalamet leading the inventive chocolatier’s origin story and Hugh Grant as his loyal Oompa Loompa!

More than nostalgia, the Wonka trailer makes you wonder if Timothée Chalamet will live up to the Wonka name the way Johnny Depp did!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, a book written in the 1960s by the famous author Roald Dahl was adapted into a movie in 1971 where Gene Wilder played the titular role. Then in 2005, another adaptation took place which was way bigger in production and starred Johnny Depp. The way he portrayed Willy Wonka is etched in our minds forever and it also went on to be one of the most iconic roles in his career. But if you’re an avid fan of this story, you must’ve wondered how Willy Wonka became a brilliant chocolatier in the first place. And to show his joyous journey to the world, Timothée Chalamet will now be donning the legendary character. In the new Wonka trailer, we see him traveling around the world learning more about his craft and perfecting himself. He believes he is a magician when it comes to chocolate making and a magician he really was, because be it dark, white, nutty, or absolutely insane, no matter how you like your chocolate, he could put a few potions and ingredients together and make it for you!

He is a boy with big dreams in a place where daydreaming had a fine. He has to somehow make his way up and compete amongst the already established chocolatiers in the industry who are wealthy enough to have big chocolate shops but are also threatened by how good Willy Wonka really is. So this is his journey to be different from them and have the best chocolate shop this world has ever seen. Calah Lane who plays his friend throughout the film, looks like his number one cheerleader in his expedition to become the best. Be it making someone as huge as a hot air balloon to make a chocolate that can defy the laws of gravity and make you fly, the Wonka movie looks like it’s going to be a treat for the viewers. Of course, another major highlight of the trailer was seeing Hugh Grant as Willy Wonka’s loyal Oompa-Loompa who is partially responsible for making him famous around the world. We see him shrunk into a smaller size inside a glass box, in green hair and doing a typical Oompa-Loompa dance. 

The producers of Harry Potter and the makers of Padington have put this fantasy adventure together which will hit the big screens on December 15. The movie also stars Olivia Coleman, Sally Hawkins, Keegan Michael-Kay, Mathew Baynton, Matt Lucas, Rowan Atkinson, Jim Carter, Natasha Rothwell, Simon Farnaby, Paterson Joseph, Tom Davis, Rakhee Thakrar, Justin Edwards, Colin O’Brien, Ellie White, Freya Parker and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith.

Without a doubt, the film's trailer has brought in many opinions and reactions from the audience. While some are highly excited for this film, some cannot help but make comparisons between Timothée Chalamet, Johnny Depp and Gene Wilder and rightfully so because he has very big shoes to fill here. The Janta is also all praises for the supporting cast, especially seeing Hugh Grant as the Oompa-Loompa!
