Camila Cabello's Cinderella trailer came out yesterday and it retells the story of Cinderella with a 2021 approach.
We've grown up watching Cinderella time and again, along with different versions of it. But the narrative was more or less the same, poor old Cinderella waiting on Prince Charming to notice and rescue her from her mundane life. While this narrative is one we know by heart, Camila Cabello's Cinderella trailer tells the same story keeping 2021 in mind. This time around Cinderella wants something more than going to the ball, dressed all pretty and a Fairy Godmother; she wants to chase her dreams.
Amazon unveiled the two-and-half minute Cinderella trailer marking the debut of singer, Camila Cabello. It's a modern retake of a traditional fairytale. We see Cinderella in a pantsuit because she wants to be a businesswoman and the Godmother turning up as a genderless Fairy God person aka Fab G (Billy Porter). The one dialogue that struck a chord for us was, "What about my work? I don't want a life stuck waving from a royal box, any more than a life confined to a basement.” Hopefully, we'll finally see Cinderella as a girl who has fallen for a prince but also wants to chase her dreams!

The movie has been written and directed by Pitch Perfect's Kay Cannon and will feature Pierce Brosnan as King Rowan. James Corden, John Mulaney, and Romesh Ranganathan play the three mice who are transformed into footmen. We have Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Robert in this movie. It will also have covers of classic pop songs, as well as original songs by Cabello and Menzel, who plays the role of Cinderella's evil stepmother, Vivian.
Are you excited for this modern musical retake on a traditional tale? The film will be releasing on Amazon Prime Video on September 3 and we can't wait to watch this one!
