I am a Social Media professional, and a hardcore Avengers fan. So, I wondered - which Social Media site could be compared to which Avenger hero? Valid question, don't you think?
So here’s a small article comparing the qualities of these websites with the super heroes.
The Hulk as Facebook
And it’s not friendly! Facebook has been accused of sharing data with third parties and other security issues which makes it lose credibility.
Slide share as the Black Widow
Natasha was born in Russia. Black Widow is a Soviet agent trained as a spy, martial arts expert, and a crack sniper. She was saved from death by Ivan Petrovitch, who raised her as a surrogate daughter. The Black Widow uses a variety of equipment invented by Soviet scientists and technicians, with later improvements by S.H.I.E.L.D. scientists and technicians.
Slide share the small little girl who can go anywhere, anytime, has lots of information but isn’t very powerful alone. It has to have the support of the other superheroes as well. But now, after LinkedIn has adopted it, things might change and slide share might become even more powerful.
Google plus as Loki
Although not a giant in stature, he possesses physical attributes of the Asgardians and he’s capable of astral projection and casting his thoughts across great distances, even across dimensional barriers. Loki also crafted a method of cheating death. He will be reincarnated upon any "death" of his body, but his arrogance makes him a lonely hero.
Google plus Works for a large organization but has limited user base and even after trying hard. hasn’t still reached the user base it should have touched. Has a limited user base of 250, 000,00 and is still struggling even after one year . Even the invites which were sent to the user base is only for average use. This is Google's third effort to get into the world of social media but Google plus is still a loner.
Renren as Captain America
A World War II veteran who was enhanced to the peak of human physicality by an experimental serum. It's just about him trying to come to terms with the modern world. And, he is restricted only to America. Like Captain America, Renren is a fierce local contender to the all mighty Facebook, however is still in its nascent stage and is not open for the world and the worst part is the tag, “Made in China and to be used only in China". With an active user count of 100,000,000 it’s China’s answer to western world.
Wordpress as the Iron man
The billionaire genius philanthropist is all ready with his latest gadgets and his armor, to tackle any problem any time. He's also one of the most tech-savvy super heroes of our time. Wordpress, like the Iron Man, has a lots of gadgets in it’s kitty and is always ready to change with the changing times, with no major rivals in the industry. Its working pretty well, with a base of 51,000,000 active users.
Twitter as Thor
Thor possesses a very high resistance to physical injury that approaches invulnerability. Thor also possesses keen senses that allow him to track objects traveling faster than light. Thor is superb in hand-to-hand combat and also skilled in armed combat. Thor possesses two items which assist him in combat: the enchanted Belt of Strength and his mystical hammer, Mjolnir. Thor has superhuman speed, agility and reflexes, enabling him to deflect bullets with his hammer.
Twitter, like Thor seems invincible in the world of social media. It is capable of making fast connections and is very agile. With an active user base of 21,000,000, it’s one of the fastest growing networks & has two major items which help in making faster connections, RT and Followers.
LinkedIn as The Thing
Strong, solid but inflexible and very ugly. Has no name but is mega powerful but is still struggling, trying to find a place in this big bad world of super heroes.
LinkeIin has created a lot of buzz & is based on a completely new trend showing a great way to connect for professional; however, it’s again not very flexible and ugly for users. With a base of 70,000,000 users though, it’s growing rapidly. Now after adopting slide share we can expect some other changes as well to this behemoth.
Flickr as Nick Fury
Nick Fury is an athletic man despite his advanced chronological age. Fury is a seasoned unarmed and armed combat expert, was a heavyweight boxer in the army (during World War II), and holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Fury has access to a wide variety of equipment and weaponry designed by S.H.I.E.L.D. technicians.
Flickr is an amazing concept for uploading pictures but when it does fade away, no one is going to miss it because of so many rivals in the same category. Although with a user base of 51,000,000 it does have some powers but will still take time to become a super hero.
