Sweet Magnolias

You don't see your friends as often as you'd like and your problems are only getting more real the older you get. If you relate to this then Sweet Magnolias is made for you!

Bringing Sherryl Woods' series of novels to life, this TV series is perfect for "I've had an exhausting week and I need a feel-good TV series to binge-watch". A relatively breezy show about three women navigating life after a divorce, workplace conflicts, relationships, and motherhood, Sweet Magnolias really is all about showing up for a friend whether it's a margarita night they need or some help in signing the divorce papers. Oh, and if you have dreamt of co-owing a business with your friends, then you're going to enjoy this one, for sure!

Cast - JoAnna Garcia Swisher as Maddie Townsend, Brooke Elliott as Dana Sue Sullivan, and Heather Headley as Helen Decatur have done such a fantastic job that I'd love to watch a movie on each of them alone!

Storyline - Born and raised in Serenity in South Carolina, Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen aka the sweet magnolias have been best friends for longer than they can remember. Today, each of them is coping with difficulties of their own; Maddie's husband impregnated his nurse, Dana Sue, a chef, and owner of Sullivans is struggling to strike a work-life balance and doesn't know how to ask for help and the no-nonsense lawyer, Helen is simply figuring life out in her 40's. This feel-good drama takes us through each of their lives while they make sense of it all over margarita nights and conversations.

What I liked - The main three protagonists of Sweet Magnolias feel their feelings and aren't afraid to be vulnerable, that isn't something you see very often onscreen. This feel-good drama series isn't solely focused on our leads and covers the entire cast with its plot. It touches upon familiar themes of conflicts between exes, parenting woos, and friendship and handles it all in a very 'Christmas movie' manner which makes this show so comforting to watch.
