Have a problem? Tweet to the concerned brand with your grievance, receive immediate response. Amazing isn’t it? We have seen a lot of Twitter interactions between brands and users, but the early bird more often than not, gets the worm.
Last night, one of such rare opportunities arose, and it wasn’t an ordinary ‘few hundred followers’ Twitter user like you and I. It was none other than Amitabh Bachchan, yes the man with the second most followed account on Twitter, who was unable to send text messages from his mobile phone.
VODAFONE WE HAVE A PROBLEM ..!! ALL SEND MESSAGES COMING FAILED .. RECEIVING SMS BUT NOT GOING .. HHEEEELLLLPPPPP !!!
— Amitabh Bachchan (@SrBachchan) January 31, 2017
Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to convey his grievances to the company. The proverbial early bird turned up moments later, and it was none other than Vodafone’s rival, Reliance Jio.
@SrBachchan Sir, we would be happy to deliver a Jio SIM to you & activate it instantly through our Aadhaar based eKYC home delivery process.

Yes the early bird did not get the worm in the end, but they got a lot of re-tweets and that is just about the same!
Reliance Jio offered their services to Amitabh Bachchan, and even managed to brag about it just a little bit through their reply to Mr. Bachchan’s tweet.
Now when all of this transpired, Twitterati had the popcorn out, waiting for the next response and who it would come from. While the re-tweets and likes racked up, Vodafone may have been breaking a sweat offline to restore the faith of probably one of the biggest Influencer in the country.
VODAFONE PROBLEM SOLVED ... THANK YOU .. ALL SMS GOING THROUGH NOW .... BAAAADDDDUUUMMBBAAA ...!!
— Amitabh Bachchan (@SrBachchan) January 31, 2017
Within a few minutes, Amitabh Bachchan’s faith in Vodafone was restored, and he tweeted about it once again. Damage controlled for Vodafone. Points scored by Reliance Jio.
Reliance Jio - Vodafone: win win!
They may not have armed themselves with one of the most popular Influencers in India, but they did win the internet for the day. With a cheeky response that may have won the hearts of many others on Twitter, and more than a few laughs.
The thing about opportunity is that very few see it, and even fewer act to seize the this moment. A moment that rakes in the benefits only to the one who is vigilant and swift. Reliance Jio was the one this time.
Now moment marketing does not always constitute making the most of your business rivals’ misfortune, but simply making the most of a trending topic, associating it with your brand, more often than not infusing it with humour, and voila!
One such moment, during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, when Uruguayan striker and third time offender, Luis Suarez bit Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini during a match, and Snickers saw their shot.
Hey @luis16suarez. Next time you're hungry just grab a Snickers. #worldcup #luissuarez #EatASNICKERS pic.twitter.com/3RAO537HjW

And they took it.
Here is Snicker’s hilarious tweet addressed to Luis Suarez, that nearly broke their re-tweet counter and had the internet in splits for days.
