Palakkeezhil Unnikrishnan Chitra aka P U Chitra is an Indian middle-distance runner who hails from Pallakad, Kerala. She is the daughter of a farmer and the third of her four children. Chitra who now works as a railway employee has made a reputation for herself through her school meets and sports event. Her performance has been appreciated making her way into various international events where she represented the country at large.
Chitra who made a career out of sports while struggling through difficult times at her home credits her determination and hard work to overcome the situation for achieving all that she has over the years. She won the 1500m gold at the 2017 Asian Athletics Championships in Bhubaneshwar, in 2018 Asian Games she scooped a bronze medal in women’s 1500m. She also won a bronze medal at the 2018 Asia and won the gold at the 2019 Asian Athletics Championship.
Despite all that she has achieved, P U Chitra strives to do better in her upcoming games by working closely on her speed and style. With the Tokyo Olympics 2020 postponed, she has all the time to improve and make her cut to the event.
