Twitterati spread elder abuse awareness addressing the issues of mistreatment of elderly people that still exist.
In this fast-growing world where everyone is so busy with their own lives, they often forget that as they are growing up, their parents are growing old and require more attention and care than ever. In many houses, old-age parents are not given adequate health and medical treatment. They're denied basic rights. It's a global-social issue which has been forgotten amidst the high talks of development. The pandemic has worsened the inequalities and resulted in ageism. It has increased the risk of abuse and violence against elders and the neglect towards all these factors needs to be dealt with now. The theme of the year for Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2020 is 'Lifting Up Voices'. The theme calls for elder justice and for the violence to end against all aged people.
Take a look at Twitterati creating awareness on the occasion:

This day is celebrated every year on 15 June to raise voice for caring elders. Elder abuse is a global social issue which affects the Health and Human Rights of millions of older persons around the world.@UN @UNICEF
Older persons may also face age discrimination in decisions on medical care, triage, and life-saving therapies. The pandemic may lead to a scaling back of critical services unrelated to COVID-19, further increasing risks to the lives of older persons.#WorldElderAbuseAwarenessDay pic.twitter.com/yYvUdly5A9
