The thrill of the Olympics continues as we reach the 13th day of the Paris 2024 Games. With the competition running from July 26 to August 11, Indian athletes have been showcasing their talents in a total of 69 medal events across 16 sports. This includes archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, equestrian, golf, hockey, judo, rowing, sailing, shooting, swimming, table tennis, and tennis. Among the 117 Indian athletes, notable participants have made headlines and the country proud. Be it Manu Bhaker making history with her wins, Mirabai Chanu's near-missed chance, or Vinesh Phogat's game that left the country both in awe and disbelief, it was a rollercoaster ride for Indians across the world.

Here's a quick rundown of what happened:
Manu Bhaker has made history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic shooting medal, and the first Indian to win two medals in a single Olympics, clinching bronze in both the women's 10m air pistol and the mixed team 10m air pistol with Sarabjot Singh.
Mirabai Chanu narrowly missed the bronze medal, finishing fourth in weightlifting. She fell short by just one kilogram, as lifters from China, Romania, and Thailand took the top three spots. The winning totals were Hou Zhihui with 206 kg, Valentina Cambei with 205 kg, and Surodchana Khambai with 200 kg.
Speaking of the day 13th of the Olympic games, Indian fans are eagerly awaiting the men’s javelin throw final, where defending champion Neeraj Chopra will compete. His final is scheduled for the second half of the day.
The first half of the day has already started with golf, with Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar in action. Meanwhile, Jyothi Yarraji finished 4th in the women’s 100m hurdles repechage round and will not advance to the semi-finals.
In wrestling, Aman Sehrawat dominated his men's freestyle 57kg Round of 16 match against Macedonia’s Vladimir Egorov, winning 10-0. His quarter-final and semi-final bouts are scheduled for later. Anshu Malik also had a successful Round of 16 match in the women's 57kg freestyle.
However, not all news has been positive. PV Sindhu, a double Olympic medallist, was knocked out by China’s He Bing Jiao in the Round of 16, with scores of 19-21 and 14-21.
In hockey, India put up a strong performance on the 12th day but lost to Germany, with Marco Miltkau scoring the decisive goal in the 54th minute. This loss ends India's hopes for a gold medal, though they still have a chance at bronze, with Harmanpreet Singh’s team set to compete against Spain for third place on August 8th. PR Sreejesh had announced that the Paris Olympics would be his last international outing for India. Before his final match, he posted on social media, "Today, I play my last match for India. Every save, every dive, every roar of the crowd will forever echo in my soul. Thank you, India, for believing in me, for standing by me."
Vinesh Phogat’s Olympic journey faced a setback when she failed to meet the weight requirement for her women’s 50 kg wrestling bout, missing out on a silver medal. Despite weighing within the limit before her first-round bout, she was 100 grams over during the final weigh-in. On August 8th, Phogat announced her retirement from international wrestling, citing a lack of strength to continue after this disappointing turn of events.
