With everyone running around from one restaurant to the other, this NYE is the perfect time to spend some time with your best friend - YOU!
For a lot of us, festivals and events like birthdays, Diwali, Christmas, and NYE feel like a lot of pressure because it comes with socializing, preparing ourselves mentally for all the intrusive questions that will come our way, pasting a fake smile on our face and being on the top of our game throughout the evening! And after spending two years in and out of a country-wide lockdown, we're pretty comfortable and content with being by ourselves, even on occasions like NYE! Plus with the new restrictions in several parts of the country, we're also back to square one.
If you're someone who still struggles with spending time by yourself, think of this as a day full of self-care, like you're gifting yourself something priceless for NYE! You can kickstart your morning by listing down everything you want to do in the day. Asking yourself these questions is a nice way to get started with what we'd like to call a wholesome day. Put on a fun Christmas playlist in the background while you go through your list and if you're unsure of what you'd like to do, this list can help you out with that too!
Check it out!
Read a book!
Nothing helps you unwind better than a good old novel! Depending on your mood, you can find something in your library or you can go through this list of Christmas reads beforehand and pick something new.
Watch a feel-good movie or TV show
As much as we enjoy watching thrillers and murder mysteries, we love ourselves a feel-good movie/ TV show night where we binge on classics like Sleepless in Seattle, Queen, or catch up on new seasons of Emily in Paris. A bowl full of popcorn, comfy pajamas, and we're all set for Netflix and chill!
Indulge in some TLC
If it was up to us, we'd spend the entire day simply pampering ourselves! A nice long hot water shower or a bubble bath, painting our nails, putting on a lounge robe and cute socks, it doesn't get better than that. Pro tip - Make a playlist beforehand of songs you like listening to when you're feeling good about yourself!
Cooking a meal by yourself is so much fun when no one's around to give you unsolicited advice on how to work your way inside a kitchen! Find an easy-to-make recipe for your favorite dish, it can be a dessert or two as well, no judging! Don't forget to pour yourself a glass of wine before you get started.
Slow down with a journal
Putting down your feelings on paper helps you feel better and a lot more relaxed. Taking time out for yourself and reflecting on the year it's been could be a good exercise before you kickstart 2022. While new year resolutions are too mainstream, it could be a nice way to keep working on self-growth and self-care!
