The Cut is showing the world what Priyanka Chopra is made of by faffing about foolish fantasies. If Mariah Smith would read the article she has written, maybe she would realise why are people so vile towards her.
“That’s right: Nicholas Jonas married into a fraudulent relationship against his will this past Sunday, December 1, and I’ll tell you why I think so,” @mRiah explains https://t.co/qENSZTvkZe
— The Cut (@TheCut) December 5, 2018
It’s a strategy, all a ‘freaking, nasty strategy’. What a journalist from ‘The Cut’ namely Mariah Smith has penned down as an article or would not be wrong to be assumed as a ‘hater’s post’ is far beyond the tactics of yellow journalism.
In her article questioning the legitimacy of Priyanka Chopra- Nick Jonas’ wedding wherein the duo tied the knot on December 1- titled Is Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’s Love for Real?- Smith goes on to bash Chopra as ‘the scam artist who intends to dupe and lured young Jonas to only marry him against his will.’ Like for Real? Is Mr.Jonas a 10-year-old kid who hasn’t attained maturity or willpower yet?
If we are not wrong, Nicholas Jerry Jonas aka Nick Jonas began acting in theater at the age of seven and released his debut single in 2002, which accordingly is a more matured act for that age. Hereby, he is very well equipped with the capability of deciding whom he wants to marry and spend his life with. Also, Jonas was the one, as he has been quoted saying in Vogue, who approached Chopra with the plans of being together- who we would term are today- ‘the much in love couple’.
Also, it’s not the first time that Nick Jonas has been in a relationship, he has dated Olivia Culpo for nearly two years and Chopra must have also had her fair share of ups and downs. But this hasn't stopped the duo from officially being the man and wife that they are today. Priyanka Chopra proudly boasts of her tag of being the first major Indian crossover star in America and we ask - Why Not? She has earned it and very well deserves it.
For the unknown, The Cut from the house of New York Magazine claims to be the premier destination for women with sharp, stylish minds. With 1.4M followers on Twitter, The Cut’s bio reads ‘Showing the world what women are made of.'
But Hey, The Cut,
We are damn sure there is much more to Priyanka Chopra - her ambition, her honesty, and dedication towards work- speaks for her. As Mariah Smith writes in her article- "Priyanka: She is a modern-day scam artist, in my opinion. That’s right: Nicholas Jonas married into a fraudulent relationship against his will this past Saturday”
This is not Bollywood’s Desi Girl PeeCee is made of.
Social Media is a small world and everything spreads like a wildfire. Our Twitterati isn't stopping themselves from opining on Ms.Smith’s piece:
For a publication that “shows women’s what they are made of” @TheCut has a lot to answer for . The article on @priyankachopra was sexist , racist and disgusting. Also it’s written by a woman which is so sad. It reeks of envy and bitterness. @mRiah shame on you! https://t.co/bmbbX7LrAT

What an utterly nasty, below the belt piece. Hey @mRiah, not only do you come across as crass, but also racist. And unhappy. https://t.co/WK2mPPBJrj

You totally deserve Donald Trump

Oh good, let's have a woman (of color, no less) perpetuate the myth of an older foreign woman entrapping and corrupting the wholesome and naive white man.

Forget petty. This piece is problematic and embarrassing.
What kind of petty hate-mongering garbage is this? If your writer can’t handle someone’s successful career or keep their sexist/racist overtones in check, it’s their personal problem, and unbecoming of the platform to publish.

Wowww is that wat it takes to sell a third rate magazine .... i hope @priyankachopra sues you for defamation of character ... and by god shes got the money and power to do so ... unreal this piece

Yet the entire article never mentioned any supporting proof that "Priyanka is a scam". Yes she's materialistic, spends obscene amount of money on luxury. So? She can afford it, how is that a scam? Did she marry for Nick's money? No proof, no such assertion even. Terrible writer.

Can't even wrap my head around how deeply vile, offensive, racist, and deplorable this piece is. More than just an uninformed editorial call, this is a gross ethical violation. Used to love @TheCut. This is seriously a new low @mRiah sending some love for you to heal.

Initially I thought this article is a badly done satire on something. Then I realised maybe it is, on the idea of journalism.

So yeah, here is the sum of my creativity for the day: pic.twitter.com/2VRWdvkJeK
And there are and will be many more.
While being bias is one thing, demeaning one in the act of two cannot be termed even a concrete opinion but hate. Nowhere in the article has the journalist justified her calling Chopra a scam artist, should be noted.
What can we say? Umm..Better Luck Next Time for Ms.Smith and The Cut maybe.
