Shamshera starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt released in the cinemas on July 22 and the Janta had a lot of opinions about the film!
Shamshera is a period action film produced by Yash Raj Films and directed by Karan Malhotra. Set in 1871, Shamshera played by Ranbir Kapoor, is a tribal leader who is separated from his soil and his people is forced to steal the wealth of the rich who consider themselves as a higher caste. Shudh Singh played by Sanjay Dutt, an Indian officer of the British forces betrays Shamshera's trust and captures him and his tribe. Shamshera goes above and beyond for the freedom of his tribe, even if it means losing his own life in doing so.
But 25 years later, Balli played by Ranbir Kapoor, dedicates himself to his father's cause and seeks revenge for the injustice that he had to go through at the hands of the Britishers. Vaani Kapoor plays Sona, a dancer, and Ronit Roy, Saurabh Shukla, and Ashutosh Rana are also seen in pivotal roles in the movie. Apart from being set on a grand scale and being a larger-than-life historic piece, this film also marks Ranbir Kapoor's come back to the movies after four long years. Shamshera proved to be a weekend entertainer for some but mostly seemed like it fell flat as a story for many who watched the film.
