Rudra is the Indian remake of the popular British BBC crime series, Luther in which Idris Elba plays a detective who solves crimes in unbelievable ways. Ajay Devgn fills those big shoes in the remake and plays the main protagonist, Rudra with utmost sincerity and determination. It's produced by Applause Entertainment, which also brought remakes from shows like The Office and Criminal Justice. Directed by Rajesh Mapuskar (Ventilator, Ferrari ki Sawaari) it also stars Esha Deol as Shaila "Shai" Durrani Singh, Rudra's wife in the show. Raashi Khanna as Dr. Aaliya Choksi, Atul Kulkarni as DCP Gautam Navlakha, Ashwini Kalsekar as commissioner Deepali Handa, Ashish Vidyarthi as Jt. CP Raman Acharya and Satyadeep Misra as Rajiv Dattani.
Rudra is a psychological crime drama that will keep you on your toes the entire time and probably even make you binge-watch it in a day. The six-episode series revolves around Rudraveer Pratap Singh aka Rudra and how he finds grisly criminals and serial killers by diving into their minds and thinking as they would. Each episode starts with a new case so there's something interesting to look forward to each time you start a fresh episode. Even though Rudra's personal life is in shackles, he always performs his duty as a detective first. The dark sick side of the crime scene in Mumbai, the sizzling chemistry between a cop and criminal, and so much more intrigues you towards this series.
