Barcelona gets a new manager after they were knocked out of the Champions League in an 8-2 defeat. The former player Ronald Koeman joins as the new manager of the Spanish football giants. Koeman bagged the role after being the manager of the Netherlands national team and has signed a two-year contract until 2022.
Quique Setien was the former manager of the team who was sacked for the worst defeat ever in the European competition. Koeman, the Dutchman expressed his happiness over being appointed as the coach to this dream club. He spent six years at the Camp Nou as a player and scored Barcelona’s winning goal in the 1992 European Cup final. He has also made 350 appearances as a defender for Barcelona and scored 106 goals.
He faces a huge rebuilding job as Barcelona failed to win a major trophy this season for the first time since 2013-14 and last lifted the Champions League in 2015, under Luis Enrique.
