People often say, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" but sometimes what doesn't kill you tends to leave deep scars which aren't healed easily - something you get a glimpse of in Zindaginama's trailer.
In a world where some battles are fought in silence, your echoes often go unheard because suffering is so glamorized and also white washed. The inner struggles we face are frequently overlooked, even by us and while we're shaped by these experiences, we're also deeply traumatized by them! While some films and shows have attempted to talk about mental health and mental illnesses in the past, not many have been able to put the right message across. Watching Zindaginama's trailer felt like this could be a series that captures the intensity of mental illnesses along with exploring the journey of those living with them.
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Sukriti Tyagi, Mitakshara Kumar, Danny Mamik, Rakhee Sandilya, and Sahaan, this series seems to also talk about seeking help in a country like India where mental health isn't a priority and those dealing with mental health issues are usually considered crazy. Call it lack of awareness, being rooted in superstition or both, mental health awareness feels like the need of the hour in a country like ours especially when death by suicide numbers are multiplying daily and people aren't even batting an eyelid anymore!
This anthology is broken into 6 stories titled Bhanwar, Swagatam, One+One, Caged, Puppet Show, and Purple Duniya and it features an ensemble cast including Shweta Basu Prasad, Shreyas Talpade, Sumeet Vyas, Shruti Seth, Prajakta Koli, Priya Bapat, Yashaswini Dayama, Lilette Dubey, Anjali Patil, Ivanka Das, Mohammad Samad, Shivani Raghuvanshi, Sayandeep Sengupta and Tanmay Dhanania.
Zindaginama will be streaming on Sony LIV from October 10, 2024!
