A coming of age series, Netflix's Heartstopper delves into different aspects of life and relationships that need more discussion via Charlie, Nick and the gang's journey. Season 3 has been no different and the Janta agrees!
From its very first episode, Heartstopper follows Charlie and Nick's relationship but this rom-com is about so much more. When Charlie comes out of the closet in season 1, he's bullied which makes him indulge in self-harm, something he's able to discuss with his boyfriend, Nick, only in season 2. Charlie's friend Elle is in a relationship with Tao but isn't able to get intimate with him because her dysphoria comes up at the thought of getting naked in front of him. Even in 2024, these conversations don't make it to our dinner tables; we aren't comfortable with discussing similar experiences with our closest few and hence when we see this being discussed on-screen, it leaves us feeling seen, queer or not! Heartstopper is also the kind of content we need to understand the LGBTQIA+ community and their struggles. The Janta seems to agree given the reactions we've seen on Twitter aka X!

On screen OCD rep that shows just how debilitating it is while also showing there's hope in recovery means everything to me.
