February 14, 40+ Central Reserve Police Force jawans were killed and many more left injured in IED Pulwama attacks carried out in Lethpora, Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir.
Central Reserve Police Force of India's primary function is to assist police operations in combating insurgencies in Union / State Territories and to preserve law and peace. Around 3:30 Indian Standard Time, 2500+ CRPF Jawans in a convoy of 78 busses were traveling from Srinagar to Jammu.
Due to bad weather in Jammu, the highway had been shut for two days hence 2500+ personnel were being transported together. An SUV carrying 200-350 kg of explosives rammed into the bus carrying Jawans. It was a suicide mission carried out by Adil Ahmad Dar aged 22. A video of him has gone viral after the deadly attack, in which he claims that he finally has got the chance to do what he wanted to do.

Jaish-e-Mohammed, a Pakistan based jihadist group claimed responsibility for the attacks. India had suspected JeM for carrying out the URI attacks in 2016 which resulted in the death of 19 soldiers. The Pulwama attack is the deadliest attack carried out since 1989 on security personnel.
According to the police, Adil Ahmad Dar is the third local "fidayeen" or suicide terrorist recruited by the Jaish-e-Mohammad for a big suicide attack. (Source: NDTV)

Following the barbaric attacks, the martyrs were paid tribute by CRPF camp in Budgam. Widespread protests were executed by locals in Jammu.
