After the last three episodes that were rather mellow, Koffee with Karan season 8 finally gave us a dash of fun with Dharma’s favorite students aka Sid and Varun!
The Koffee has not brewed the way it usually does this season. While this season’s approach seems like "let's try very hard not to be controversial", some of the questions asked during the show still remain the same. But in the midst of all of this analyzing, in the latest episode of Koffee with Karan season 8, we were taken back to 2012 where Abhimanyu Singh and Rohan Nanda were the coolest students of our generation. Seeing Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan on the Koffee couch 10 years down the line made us feel like even though time flies super quick, some movies will always have a special place in our hearts. Shanaya aka Alia Bhatt’s void on the couch was definitely felt but the boys started some stirring conversations on the show as well. Somewhere between Sid’s poise and Varun’s constant jokes, we found another good episode to add in our Koffee with Karan re-watch collection.
Here's why we loved this episode!
Sid-Kiara’s love story made us feel single all over again
Except for the viral wedding video, there wasn’t much about Sid- Kiara’s love story that we knew of. But as usual the story was spilled on the Koffee couch. While discussing his relationship, Sidharth mentioned how the two first met at a party for Lust Stories with absolutely no clue or intention of dating each other. They went from that to doing Shershah together, which really started their love story. How cutely Sidharth mentioned that as someone who has never had family in Bombay, now he has one and he is always spending time with Kiara’s parents. He even mentioned how once when they had a silly fight, the two sorted things out at Karan Johar’s party where Sid even attended the party even after having a fever, just to meet Kiara there. Even in his rapid fire when Sid was asked ‘what does he miss about being single?’, he said ‘meeting Kiara secretly’ and just like Karan Johar, it made us all go aww! Once again, Sid and Kiara have successfully managed to call us single in every language possible!
The OG Student of the Year reunion was nostalgic and wholesome to watch
We’re all for reunions of our favorite characters and while Alia was missing from the couch, she sent a rather sweet message for Sid and Varun. The three reminisced their Koffee debut from 10 years ago where Alia goofed up about the Prime Minister of India and the rest was history. The three of them were honest about the fact that even though they’re not exactly best friends or talk to each other all the time, they still wish the best for one another. Every time they meet at a party, they’re always stuck to each other and talking about this 10 year journey that they’ve had from Student of the Year to the plethora of films they’re doing now after proving themselves to the audience.
Like Varun rightly said, maybe it really should be Karan ‘Ghartode’?
Karan Johar is known to ask scandalous questions, especially to celebrities who are married or are in a relationship. ‘What kind of relationship do you have with your in-laws?’ ‘Do you miss being single?’ and many such inappropriate questions often arrive during the show. To call him out on this, Varun Dhawan mentions in an amusing manner how in his father, David Dhawan’s film, there’s a character called ‘Shaadiram Gharjode’. In the same way, Karan should be called ‘Karan Johar Ghartode’. From the very beginning of the episode itself, he pleads Karan to make sure both of their marriages stay intact but that’s never going to stop the Koffee host from asking what he wants!
When the game was more exciting to watch than the Rapid fire
Sid and Varun play a 3 second rule game where in 3 seconds they have to mention 3 things asked from a category. The two were hilariously stuck between being politically correct and telling the truth, which was way more fun to watch than the done and dusted Rapid fire!
