Check out how O-Ren Ishii aka Cotton Mouth from Quentin Tarantino's movie Kill Bill - Volume 1 joined our list of iconic villains.
There is nothing cooler than a woman who can fight and kick some arse. Women fighters who can lead a troop and create terror on-screen always manage to win the audiences. Because what is scarier than a smart woman? A smart woman who can fight. Movies make us fall for characters that although possess a negative aspect, are strong enough to give the protagonist a run for their good-guy glory. O-Ren Ishii from Kill Bill is one hell of a villain who won her place among all of Tarantino's masterpiece characters.
O-Ren Ishii aka Cotton Mouth is the ninja samurai who has all the devilish characteristics to make for a villain we can all hate. She is also the villain no one would wish to have. Highly skilled, she is a true warrior who can take down anyone who dares to stand against her. A member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad (DeVAS) and the supreme leader of the Tokyo Yakuza she was one of the main enemies of The Bride. She is an emotionless killer who's only motivation is to shed blood with her sword as she completes her task.
Watching her parents being killed in front of her made her into the tragic crime lady that she is. The need to avenge her parent's death drove her to take up every person responsible and thus become the ultimate leader of the Tokyo underworld. PS: there could not have been a better way to tell her story than through this Japanese anime.
This is the only villainous role that Hollywood actor Lucy Liu has portrayed to date. She has worked in a number of notable movies like Charlie's Angels, Shangai Noon and Chicago to name a few. Apart from being onscreen, she has also voiced characters of well-known animated movies which include the Kung Fu Panda franchise.
Lucy Liu also received two Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Seoul International Drama Award for Best Actress. She has also been nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and has received nominations for three People's Choice Awards and two Saturn Awards.
Here are some of the iconic dialogues by O-Ren Ishii:
"You may not be able to fight like a Samurai, but at least you can die like a Samurai."
(After beheading Tanaka-San) "So you know how serious I am, I am going to say this in English. As you leader I encourage you from time to time and always in a respectful manner, to question my logic. If you are unconvinced to a particular plan of action I've decided is the wisest, tell me so. But allow me to convince you and promise you, right here and now no subject will ever be taboo. Except of course the subject that was just under discussion. The price you pay for bringing up either my Chinese or American heritage as a negative is, I collect your fucking head. Just like this fucker here (shows the head). Now, if any of you sons of bitches GOT ANYTHING ELSE TO SAY, NOW'S THE F-CKING TIME!"
"You didn't think it was gonna be that easy, did you?"
"Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids"
"Swords, however, never get tried. Hope you've saved your energy. If you haven't, you might not last five minutes. But as the last look go, you could do worse"
"Silly Caucasian girl likes to play with Samurai swords."
"For ridiculing you earlier, I apologize"
"That really was a Hattori Hanzo sword..."
