Netflix's new "Play Something" feature lets the users enjoy as the platform suggests and plays shows and movies.
Wanting to watch something new and spending hours only to find something that we can watch is a task that no one was ready for. We have all been there. Considering the number of shows that we have online, it is only fair to be confused as to what we can watch. Netflix recently launched its new "Play Something" feature globally as a solution to this problem.
The new feature is all about "When finding your next story, let the story find you," according to Cameron Johnson, Director, Product Innovation. The new feature will shuffle shows and movies for users without them having to manually do it. When one hits the ‘Play Something’ button, they will be instantly met with a series or film we know you’ll love based on what you’ve watched before. Or with one more click you can ‘Play Something Else’ and get:
A brand new series or film,
A series or film you’re already watching,
A series or film on your list, or
An unfinished series or film you may want to revisit.
And to keep it easy, you can find Play Something in multiple ways on your TV:
Underneath your profile name
The tenth row on your Netflix homepage
The navigation menu on the left of the screen
For members that use screen-readers, Play Something fully supports Text-to-Speech (TTS). To discover your next favourite film or show with Play Something using TTS, visit our Accessibility help centre for more information on how to enable this feature through your TV device settings.
