Andy Jassy is all set to replace the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, as he steps down from the CEO post.

Who is Andy Jassy, the new CEO? Mr. Jassy joined Amazon after graduating with an MBA from Harvard Business School, worked as a technical assistant for Mr. Bezos. In the early 2000s, he was instrumental in leading the company’s push outside of book sales and also has overseen the company’s fast-growing cloud computing business. He also believes that the key to a company's long-term success is reinvention.

Mr. Jassy’s career-defining moment was leading Amazon into a wholly new market: cloud computing. This a service where Amazon Web Services rents space and software programming for customers. Customers can then run their technical operations on the company’s servers. This arm now adds to Amazon’s profits and is dominating the cloud market.

One of his big challenges has been navigating the loss of a $10 billion Pentagon cloud contract to Microsoft. Outside of Amazon, Andy is married to Elana Rochelle Caplan and is the father of two children. He is also self-proclaimed sports and music fan. Mr. Jassy is part-owner of the new Seattle National Hockey League franchise, the Kraken, which will join in the 2021-2022 season.

The world eagerly waits to find out what lies ahead for Amazon with this new change in its leadership.
