With the premiere of Marvel's Halloween Special, here are some Werewolf by Night facts you need to know about!
Marvel has been on a roll and at this year's D23 expo Kevin Fiege announced a whole lineup of superhero movies and shows. The lineup includes a bunch of projects that the fans are eager to watch and some they have been waiting for. Among all the stories, one shows that came as a surprise was its Halloween Special show Werewolf by Night. And while the show premiered on October 7, the show was already making buzz for all the positive reviews from the critics and some Werewolf by Night facts.
Werewolf by Night has to be one of the most peculiar projects that Marvel has produced so far. Taking us through the nightmare-filled ride, the show will have some of the most petrifying monsters and hunters trying to find the things that go bump in the night. The story follows a group of monster hunters who gather at Bloodstone Manor following the death of their leader and engage in a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic, which will bring them face to face with a dangerous monster. This group includes Jack Russell who has been cast down with a curse that makes him turn into a werewolf at midnight. The Disney+ original Halloween special stars Gael García Bernal as Jack Russell, Laura Donnelly as Elsa Bloodstone, and Harriet Sansom Harris as Veruca Bloodstone. It is directed by Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino. As the show premieres before the Halloween season begins, not all of us will be familiar with Marvel's own supernatural character. To help you know him a little better, we made a list of facts you should know before binging on the show.

Here are some facts you need to know!
Werewolf by Night aka “Werewolf” made his first official Marvel Comics debut in Marvel Spotlight #2 in February 1972.
Werewolf by Night is Jack Russell's alter-ego but his original name is Jacob Russoff and he originates from Transylvania.
The cause of Jack Russell’s animalistic alter ego can be traced back to the 1700s, when Grigory Russoff (Jack's father) wanted vengeance against Count Dracula for the murder of his wife, Louisa. However, soon after, he was bitten by a female werewolf living in the count’s castle – Lydia, and inherited her lycanthropic curse that would later be passed down to many of his descendants.
Count Dracula is Jack's and the Werewolf's archenemy as he's indirectly responsible for the curse that turned Werewolf by Night in the first place.
The Darkhold, something fans might be familiar with because of its mention in the Doctor Strange sequel holds a place in this comic too. Gregory Russoff used it to activate the curse from within him to protect his family from the danger he could potentially bring them. However, Jacob (now Jack) discovers his strange inherited abilities by 18 after his mom, Laura left Transylvania to live in Los Angeles with their children.
Jack aka Werewolf's powers - He can lift more than 1500 pounds, run fast enough to be nearly invisible in the darkness, smell living creatures from at least 100 feet away, and heal bodily damage with greater speed and efficiency than the average human. During a full moon, some of these abilities are even stronger.
Marvel's other superhero Moon Knight was given the task to hunt down and kill Werewolf By Night.
Werewolf By Night has crossed paths with many popular and traditional horror characters. This includes Dracula (his arch-nemesis), vampires, witches, ghouls, and goblins.
