The Paraiso x SI Swimsuit show on Sunday marked itself as one of the most iconic ramp shows of our times and for good reason! Model Mara Martin walked the ramp for the Sports Illustrated show while breastfeeding her infant daughter. Yes, you heard it right!
We still live in a world where natural processes that every woman goes through are never talked about in open. Because God forbid, someone should hear! Be it periods or breastfeeding, it’s always a hush-hush. Although I will never get why. This bold and effortless walk by Martin was surely a step towards fighting these taboos. Let’s not forget to appreciate Sports Illustrated to facilitate this and clearly showing a middle finger to the haters.

The ramp walk was widely appreciated by people around the world on social media. Taken aback by all the support, Mara said, “I can't believe I am waking up to headlines with me and my daughter in them for doing something I do every day. It is truly so humbling and unreal to say the least. I’m so grateful to be able to share this message and hopefully normalize breastfeeding and also show others that women can do it all!”
Here’s how Twitter said KUDOS to this bold act:
1. She symbolized women all over.
She not only looks amazing but Mara Martin is who we all are - women, strong beautiful people and she’s doing the best job being a mum while working. https://t.co/mL28wAEu7T

2. Empowered women!
Yep. THIS. When women are empowered the world is a better place. Thank you Mara Martin for your bravery. And thank you to all the brave women that stand proud in their own skin, doing… https://t.co/3wCpY3jdnE

3. It is normal!
We have a problem with breastfeeding in the West for some strange reason and the more than can be done to normalize it, the better.

Until people stop getting told to leave restaurants or 'cover up', keep the publicity stunts coming! #breastfeeding #MaraMartin pic.twitter.com/BqUuQLE3eA
4. It was refreshing for some!
This is refreshing. She is holding her daughter of 5 months old.

5. If you’re gonna hate this, it’s a statement on your character, not hers!
That scene from “Say Anything” except instead of John Cusack and a boombox it’s me and a portable DVD player showing Rooney Mara’s monologue from “The Social Network” to every gate-keeping comic/TTRPG/gaming nerd I’ve ever met. pic.twitter.com/JV4Dw06562

6. Goooo women!
The Amish ladies around me just whip their boob out and they dress from neck to ankle! When it comes to feeding their baby they don't care one bit. Tits out!

7. Some people can think negative for everything.
Those in the replies who are saying it’s a publicity stunt must not have children.... you see, babies aren’t capable of thinking along these terms. A baby can’t “pretend” to feed for publicity stunts if it’s not hungry. LOL. This baby is feeding. Not a stunt. lol. Wow.

8. Because it is completely normal!
Everywhere is a place to breastfeed. Bravo @_MaraMartin_ !!

9. For all the people who said she’s “using” her baby, logic much?
It is hard to make a statement about the taboo of breastfeeding without a kid. You are then just walking the catwalk with a boob out.

10. Not everything is for attention.
I’m so sorry ? it’s just infuriating watching people act like feeding your infant is some kind of pagan ritual for attention ?♀️

There are always gonna be people who will point out the pessimistic aspects of this but could we just look at the brighter side? I hope women all over feel more confident about what they’re going through and how it is nothing to shy away from!
Thank you Mara Martin for this, women everywhere love you!
