First, it was Phoebe Waller-Bridge and now it's Mads Mikkelsen joining the cast of already star-studded Harrison Ford's Indiana Jones 5.
Mads Mikkelsen has been roped in Indiana Jones 5 and will star opposite Harrison Ford and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. They all would be seen sharing the screen in this latest installment of the popular adventure franchise. The reports so far suggest that James Mangold will be taking over the filmmaking duties from Steven Spielberg. Spielberg has been the director pulling this ship of the first four Indiana Jones films so far. Though he is still expected to be involved in the making of the film and will serve as a producer with Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel.
The 78-year-old Ford would be reiterating his iconic role, though the plot details of the film haven’t been announced. This makes it unclear as to who Mikkelsen or Phoebe will be playing in the movie.
Indiana Jones 5 has been delayed a number of times till now. For the time being its current release is slated to in theaters on July 29, 2022. This makes the next in the franchise to be released more than four decades after Raiders of the Lost Ark debuted in 1981. While Mikkelsen's is no stranger to famed film franchises. His previous franchise films include Casino Royale, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Marvel’s Doctor Strange. He will be appearing next in Fantastic Beasts 3, replacing Johnny Depp as the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. The film has been making rounds in the Awards season and has been nominated for two Oscars, Best International Feature, and Best Director for Thomas Vinterberg.
