Before we get overwhelmed and create a nexus event, here's a Loki recap before the finale episode airs on Wednesday.
It's been a wonderful journey for Marvel fans! After spending a year without any Marvel content, 2021 came bearing gifts. Fans finally got the chance to go back to the theatres and watch Black Widow, but before that, MCU gave us all the chance to sit at home and enjoy their content. Like all of their movies, fans openly accepted Marvel's series on Disney Plus with shows like Wanda Vision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
After the success of these shows, the platform released its Loki series and soon Wednesdays became the new Fridays. The Asgardian God is one of the most admired villains of the MCU. After an upsetting death in Infinity War, Loki was seen again in Endgame when the Avengers traveled back in time to get their hands on all the Infinity Stones. Being the God of Mischief that he is, Loki escaped the timeline, and thank god for that because we got our very own Loki series on Disney. The show will be airing its final episode of the season on Wednesday, July 14, and here's a Loki recap before you watch the finale.
Let's recap:
Episode 1, "Glorious Purpose"
The episode was an introduction to the TVA and how they operate. Loki, who snuck out in Avengers Endgame after getting a hold of the Tesseract travels through time and is arrested by the TVA for causing a branch in the sacred timeline. Upon reaching there, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) meets Morbius (Wilson Owen) who shows him his entire life event and how it's supposed to unravel. He also finds out that the TVA was created by the Time-keepers and that they control the timeline to protect the multiverse.
But instead of having him pruned for his crimes, Morbius plans to take Loki's help to find a variant who has been causing issues in the timeline. Only for Loki to realize that the other variant is none other than himself from a different verse.
Episode 2, "The Variant"
We get officer Loki in this episode since the God of Mischief is buried under paperwork as he studies the case files of different variants. He'd agreed to help the TVA in finding the variant who was causing a disturbance in the scared timeline since the variant was himself.
The idea that there is no one who knows him better than himself makes Morbius want to take his help. And we understand that the other variant is hiding in the apocalypse world. So, the agents along with Loki go to 2050 Alabama during a “Class 10 Apocalypse” where the variant is hiding. Fans finally get to meet the other variant who happens to be none other than Lady Loki.
Episode 3, "Lamentis"
This episode gave us a glimpse of who Lady Loki (Sophia Di Martino) is and how she ended up in TVA. We get to know that she calls herself Sylvie and that she was taken by the TVA at a very young age. She then somehow managed to escape the TVA and hide in apocalypse worlds to get her revenge on them.
At the end of episode 2, Loki had escaped from the TVA along with Sylvie to know more about her and her plans. And the two accidentally end up in Lamentis which according to Sylvie is one of the worst planetary collisions in the timeline that ends with no survivors. The two open up to each other and end up creating a Nexus event which leads to their capture.
Episode 4, "The Nexus Event"
The episode left us all with a big "what the heck just happened?" After their arrest, Loki and Sylvie try to take down the Time-keepers with the help of Hunter-B15 (Wunmi Mosaku) who starts having doubts about TVA's operations. Loki tries to let Morbius know that agents like himself were not created by the Time-keepers but are actually variants like him. This leads to them confronting Ravonna who then, to everyone's shock, prunes Morbius and Loki.
We had our first post-credit scene of the season as we got a glimpse of some of the iconic comic book Loki characters. The audience got to see Kid Loki, Classic Loki, Boastful Loki, and even an Alligator Loki. Also, is it safe to say that it had the best post-credit appearance after Pietro's in Wanda Vision?
Episode 5, "Journey Into Mystery"
Fans get a breath of relief as we understand that the variants who get pruned don't actually die but end up in a place called the void or the end of time. They are trapped in a place where they're unable to get themselves out of The Void. Loki tries to escape The Void, a desolate purgatory where he meets variant versions of himself.
Sylvie, who was captured by the TVA, prunes herself and ends up in The Void. There, she meets Morbius and the other Lokis and helps Loki (Tom) escape the place. No matter what the episode had to offer, Classic Loki stole the show and left us all in tears of joy. And all the Lokis realize that there is more to them than they realize.
It sure will be one hell of a finale...
What do you think will happen in the last episode? If you have any theories send them across.
