India lost a legend yesterday, Lataji's voice is one that could light up a whole room and will be remembered for generations to come!
6th February 2022, a day that will be remembered by the nation forever! Yesterday, India lost a gem, a legend, and a voice that will not be forgotten for generations. Lata Mangeshkar, known as the 'Nightingale of India' who has lent her voice for over 30,000 songs in Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, and other regional languages, breathed her last at the age of 92. The veteran singer was laid to rest at Mumbai's Shivaji Park with full state honors on Sunday evening. Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Bollywood celebs like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Shankar Mahadevan, Ranbir Kapoor, and many other artists and dignitaries paid their last respects. This verse"Do pal ki thi, dilon ki daastaan aur phir chal diye tum kahan, hum kahan", feels so true..! Aapki aawaz hi pehchan hai, Lataji!
The state will observe state mourning with the flag at half-mast through Monday. The government of Maharashtra has declared a public holiday on Monday while the state of West Bengal declared a half-day holiday and urged the administration to play the singer's songs all over the state for 15 days. The Indian cricket team wore black armbands as they kicked off one-dayers against the West Indies. And while Lataji and her voice will surely remain in our hearts forever let's have a look at what the other celebrities and artists have to say about her:
