Here is your summer-friendly makeup guide:
What are your favorite summer makeup trends for this year?
My favorite summer makeup trend for this year has to be the 'sun-kissed look' with minimal foundation. Bold and vibrant eyeshadow colors like tropical oranges and corals are essential, and I can't forget the glossy lips for that fresh, hydrated look. It's all about having glowy and dewy skin!
How do you adapt your makeup routine for hot weather and high humidity? How is it different from the routine you had in winter?
It's crucial to avoid makeup meltdowns in hot weather and high humidity. Adapting your makeup routine is key. I opt for lightweight, water-based products like tinted moisturizers instead of heavy foundations. Setting sprays and primers with mattifying properties help control shine and greasy skin, while waterproof mascara and eyeliner ensure eye makeup stays put. Unlike in winter, where I layer on hydrating products, in summer, I focus on oil-free and sweat-resistant formulas to prevent clogged pores and breakouts.
What are the must-have products for a summer makeup bag?
Your summer makeup bag must include a good SPF sunscreen to protect your skin, whether in spray, stick, or cream formula. It can also have a lightweight tinted moisturizer or BB cream for coverage without heaviness, along with waterproof mascara to withstand sweat and humidity. Add a long-lasting cream or water blush for a natural flush, and of course, a hydrating lip balm with SPF to keep your lips protected and moisturized at the same time.
Are there any specific makeup techniques or tricks you recommend for summer?
One thing that I do and would recommend to all of you is using a dab of highlighter on the high points of your face for a sun-kissed summer glow. Opt for cream products over powders for a more natural finish, and don't forget to use a makeup setting spray with cooling properties to refresh your skin and keep your base intact.
Are there any skin care tips you recommend to prep the skin for summer makeup?
SPF is an unsaid rule for summers, especially. However, to prep the skin for summer makeup, exfoliation is key to remove any dead skin cells and ensure a smooth canvas, but please be gentle on the skin. I also recommend using a lightweight, hydrating moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated without feeling heavy. Incorporating a vitamin C serum will also help brighten and protect the skin from sun damage. Additionally, using primers with SPF provides an extra layer of protection.
How do you choose colours that complement different skin tones for summer makeup?
Choosing colors that complement different skin tones for summer makeup isn’t that tricky after all. I suggest opting for warm, golden hues for deeper Indian skin tones, such as bronze or copper, while lighter skin tones can play with pastel shades like peach and pink. And if you can’t decide, universal shades like coral and gold look stunning on all skin tones and are perfect for the summer season.
Can you suggest some summer-friendly makeup looks for different occasions, such as beach days, outdoor weddings, or pool parties?
Here are some summer-friendly makeup looks that you should try. Opt for a natural, minimal makeup look with tinted moisturizer, waterproof mascara, and a swipe of bronzer for a sun-kissed tanned glow that you can carry to the beach! For outdoor summer weddings, opt for a soft, romantic look with neutral eyeshadows, a rosy blush, and a matte lipstick that won't budge, even after all the food. And go all out with fun and bold colors with waterproof eyeliner in vibrant shades, paired with a glossy lip for pool parties.
