Sameeksha Takke

In a recent chat, Sameeksha Takke gave us a peek into her thrilling collaboration with Star Sports during IPL 2024, her passion for cricket and more.

Cricket in India is more than just a game; it’s a passion that unites fans from all walks of life. The excitement around cricket matches and the need to celebrate after every victory is deeply ingrained in our culture. This enthusiasm was taken to new heights as Star Sports, the official broadcaster of Tata IPL 2024, launched the Star Creator’s Network. An initiative focused on collaboration with influential content creators across social media, it bridged the gap between cricket and the digital world. The network was designed to engage the audiences through creative and innovative content.

Sameeksha Takke was one of the selected few who had the chance to be part of this initiative. Known for her skillful integration of cricket into her comedy content, Sameeksha has received significant attention with her unique approach. In our recent conversation with the creator, we tried to understand her deep-rooted love for cricket, and her experiences collaborating with Star Sports. We also discussed her role as the host of "MI Live" for Mumbai Indians fans and how she continues to merge her passion for cricket with her content creation career.

Where did your passion for cricket start, and how has it grown over the years?

We are two sisters; my elder sister is a dedicated Bharatanatyam dancer who also works in a corporate job, while I, on the other hand, was always a tomboy growing up. My father affectionately nicknamed me Maharana Pratap because I used to stumble upon everything, being a clumsy and hyperactive kid. Despite his love for cricket and his dream of enrolling a son in the sport, which never happened, he turned his attention to me, hoping I would take up cricket. This is how my passion for cricket began, as my father became my first coach and instilled in me a deep love for the game. Over time, my enthusiasm for cricket grew so much that, despite pursuing a different career, I have remained connected to cricket in one way or another.

What inspired you to combine your love for cricket with your comedy?

I often feel the need for positive feedback to boost my confidence. During COVID, people began appreciating the bond I share with my mother through my comedy reels. However, my journey in content creation started long before that, when I used to post cricket-related content. As people began enjoying my humorous side, I realized I could combine both passions. Now, with so many memes involving cricketers, I can't help but create content around them. My mind constantly comes up with ideas, and I feel compelled to share them with my audience in my unique style. Hahaha!

How did your collaboration with Star Sports come about, and how has the experience been?

I feel like I will forever be grateful to Star Sports for their immense support throughout my journey. They understand my vision and stand by me with every piece of content I post. Their support extends beyond just me as they uplift every content creator passionate about the game. The launch of the Star Sports Creator’s Network has been incredibly beneficial for sports content creators across India, providing a platform to showcase their talent and commentary skills. I am genuinely happy and proud to be associated with them.

What has been the most exciting part of hosting "MI Live" for Mumbai Indians fans?

For the past 17 years, I have been a dedicated Mumbai Indians fan, and I will forever be. With every piece of content I posted, I made sure to tag Mumbai Indians, and I consistently created content around their matches, whether we won or lost. Eventually, it caught their attention,  leading to my involvement in the second season of MI Live. The experience was incredible, especially getting the chance to interview Rohit Sharma visually. I am forever grateful for that moment and will always cherish my love for Mumbai Indians. Forever MI Paltan!

What has been the most rewarding experience for you as a content creator so far?

I am very family-oriented, and my love for my father is immense. While every daughter loves her father, our connection is especially strong when it comes to cricket. I always try to make him proud through my passion for the sport. He wanted me to become a cricketer but things didn’t work out as planned. I am now living his dream by playing alongside cricket legends and traveling to different countries to watch historic matches. One of my most cherished memories is traveling to the USA to watch the India versus Pakistan match. I am forever grateful for choosing content creation as my career.

Lastly, if you could collaborate with any cricket legend or sports personality, who would it be and why?

I’ve had the incredible opportunity to interview and meet so many cricketing legends, including Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Steve Smith, Hardik Pandya, Ravi Shastri, Virat Kohli, Aditya Tare, Jatin Sapru, and even did a podcast with Sreesanth. I am absolutely thrilled by these experiences. While I’ve been fortunate to meet many, meeting Sir Mahendra Singh Dhoni is still a dream I hold dear. I have immense respect for every cricketer and a long list of dreams related to the sport. For me, meeting any cricketer is an honor, and I would never say no to any opportunity related to cricket. I love cricket, I live and breathe it, and I believe it will always be a central part of my life.
