Indian para-archer, Jyoti Baliyan, who has made a name for herself in the field of archery is one such sports personality.
Belonging from a middle-class family that had its own set of hard times. Another tragedy struck when she was given the wrong injection in a leg at a very young age that resulted in her having life-long polio. Owing to the condition, Jyoti found it difficult to live up to her father's dream of her becoming a volleyball player. However, she did not give up her dream of becoming a sportsperson and took up archery instead.

It was in 2010 when her coach started a local archery academy and was looking for para-archers when her career in the sport began. She gave in her all to the sport and currently stands as one of the top archers in our country. Her consistent performance made way for many recognitions in her career. Jyoti made her unique mark when she won the gold at World championships in Tamil Nadu surpassing able-bodied archers. She also made it to the Asian Para Games, Incheon and Para Champions Programme 2018-19. She participated at the World Para Archery Championships in Beijing China 2017, Para Asian Games in Incheon 2014 and also won a Gold medal (10m & 50m) at the National championships Orissa in 2010.
Considering how hard she has worked to achieve what she has, it is hard to not be inspired by Jyoti Baliyan.
