Jungkook's Seven

Armys and BTS celebrate as Jungkook’s Seven breaks streaming records and grabs the top spot on the Billboard chart this week!

Following the footsteps of his fellow BTS member, Jimin, Jungkook has now become the second K-pop soloist to have earned the number one spot on the highly acclaimed Billboard charts. Not just the Billboard Hot 100, but he has also garnered the number one position at Global 200 and the Global Charts excluding the US. Ever since Jungkook’s Seven released on July 14, the song has been breaking record after record. Firstly, it surpassed BTS’ most streamed songs ever Dynamite and Butter which debuted at 11 million and 7 million streams respectively. Seven gained 15 million streams on the first day itself. It was number one on Spotify India, the first two days after its release, surpassing Arijit Singh who of course is one of the most renowned and loved artists of our country.  Now, since more than a week has passed, the song has achieved 100 million streams on Spotify globally and the music video also surpassed 100 million views last night.

The only Korean acts to achieve this kind of success so far is in fact BTS themselves, Jimin’s title song Like Crazy and now Jungkook’s Seven. After Jungkook, it adds up to BTS overall having seven songs grab the number one spot on Billboard charts and of course the first one for Jungkook as a solo artist. Armys who were eagerly waiting for the results were ecstatically celebrating on social media once the charts came out. Jungkook posted a message on Weverse while Latto, who also features in the song, shared a story via her Instagram this morning. BTS members Jimin & RM, BTS’ choreographer Song Sung Deuk, their performance directed Bangster and Gangnam Style fame K-Pop star PSY, shared congratulatory messages for Jungkook on social media.
