Jersey starring Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur released in cinemas on April 22 and the janta had a lot to say about the film.
Jersey is the Hindi remake of the Telugu sports drama of the same name and both the outstanding films are written and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. Shahid Kapoor brilliantly steps into the shoes of Nani who played Arjun in the previous film. Mrunal Thakur plays Arjun's wife, Vidya, Ronit Kamra is seen playing Arjun's son, Ketan once again, and Shahid Kapoor's real-life father, Pankaj Kapur plays the role of his life coach in this movie as Madhav Sharma. The film is produced by Allu Aravind under his production Allu Entertainment along with 'Dil' Raju Production, BRAT Films, and Sithara Entertainments.
Arjun Talwar who was once a cricketer at the peak of his career decides to give up on the sport when he is robbed of the well-deserved opportunity of playing in the Indian Cricket Team and gets himself a mundane government job. When he's accused of corruption and suspended from work, their small family of three becomes entirely dependent on his wife, Vidya's earnings alone. He starts ignoring important responsibilities and mostly spends his time watching cricket on TV. One day, Arjun's son Kittu asks him for a jersey as a gift for his birthday but he cannot even afford five hundred rupees to give that to his son. Frustrated about his life and tired of feeling like a loser, constantly, his son's wish plays a major factor in refiring the desire to become a cricketer. With the help of his coach who has an unwavering belief in him, Arjun decides to restart his journey as a cricketer in his mid-30s, solely to be a hero in his son's eyes and give a second shot at pursuing his passion.
Shahid Kapoor's attention to detail on how to play a batsman, his technique, and nuances, especially when learning it at the age of 40 is not at all easy and that has garnered him a lot of praise from the audience.
