YRF's Maharaj was released on Netflix and while some people loved it, there are quite a few who aren't quite happy with it.
Released on Netflix, Maharaj is produced by YRF Entertainment and is based on Saurabh Shah's book of the same name. Directed by Siddharth Malhotra and starring Jaideep Ahlawat, Junaid Khan, Shalini Pandey, Sharvari Wagh, and Jay Upadhyay, the film narrates the story of Karsandas Mulji, a renowned journalist and social worker who stood up against societal malpractices. After discovering that Jadunath Maharaj, a religious leader, was exploiting women, Karsandas took a bold stand, using his voice and pen to fight back, even when his own fiancée became a victim. The film chronicles Karsandas' ultimate victory in the defamation case filed against him by Jadunath Maharaj.
Released last friday, Maharaj, a film surrounded by controversy, is a cinematic masterpiece that deserves a watch according to some of the Janta. While some may still find it offensive, this film is a powerful narrative that sparks essential conversations.
Lets have a look at what the Janta has to say about it!
#Maharaj has an epic dialogue “To differentiate between the right and wrong one needs to be ingenious, not religious.” Definitely not a movie for the pseudo orthodox RW.

Before people start boycotting this movie, granted this gets decent viewership on Netflix, let me tell you, this movie doesn't attack Hindus in any way or form, but rather based upon a true story with facts and evidence already present in our history. #Maharaj #MaharajonNetflix pic.twitter.com/paCAAhw2sz

Jaideep Alahwat is a true gem. His costumes, makeup and body language will keep you hooked. Second half gets little slow but to save time I fast forwarded the songs. Junaid is a promising young chap. Amir Khan will be a proud father for sure.

The recent Netflix film Maharaj due to its typical Bollywood storyline & treatment failed to highlight an important legal case in Indian history.

The Maharaj Libel Case, 1862, was one of the earliest instances of colonial administration being drawn into native's social conflict. pic.twitter.com/8eIFG4C5Um
