Chandu Champion impresses the Janta with Kartik Aaryan’s finesse and Kabir Khan’s return to form

Kabir Khan’s latest biopic, ‘Chandu Champion,’ seems to have broken this trend. The film, starring Kartik Aaryan in the titular role, is earning a lot of praise from audiences and critics alike. Based on word of mouth, its high entertainment value is slowly becoming the talk of the town. The public is showering Aaryan with praise for his impressive portrayal of Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medalist. Chandu Champion is also being hailed as Khan’s return to form.

#ChanduChampion is Kabir Khan back at making damn good dramatic biopic, without diluting the reality. An incredible performance from Karthik Aaryan makes it feel meta, because no one expects him to be this good similar to how no one expects Murli to win. Great comeback for both!

In Chandu Champion, I struggled to discern Kabir Khan's narrative intent. The film reiterated clichéd perseverance themes, lacking the sharp storytelling of Khan — who used to redefine predictable plotlines. Despite its indispensable form, the movie felt disappointingly generic.

#KabirKhan is such a sensible and skilful filmmaker that he’ll once again create havoc at the box office if he does a film with any SUPERSTAR. People who went to watch #ChanduChampion, 99% of them are loving it. But the challenge for such big film is to pull public to cinemas.
