Kabir Khan’s ‘Chandu Champion’ is winning praise from the Janta and critics. The film marks a strong comeback for Khan, with Kartik Aaryan’s role as Murlikant Petkar getting special recognition.
As a country, India lives and breathes sports. From cricket to hockey, Indians are sports fanatics. Sports are even a form of celebration. However, sports haven’t found their rightful place in Indian cinema yet. Most sports dramas and biopics follow generic and familiar tropes and are mildly entertaining. Kabir Khan’s latest biopic, ‘Chandu Champion,’ seems to have broken this trend. The film, starring Kartik Aaryan in the titular role, is earning a lot of praise from audiences and critics alike. Based on word of mouth, its high entertainment value is slowly becoming the talk of the town. The public is showering Aaryan with praise for his impressive portrayal of Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medalist. Chandu Champion is also being hailed as Khan’s return to form.
Here's what the Janta is saying about it!
Watched Chandu Champion. Who would have believed it if it not would have been a 100% true story .particularly enjoyed the 2nd half. Another feather in Kabir khan’s cap . Kartik is a delightful surprise in a dramatic role . Vijay Raaz is brilliant. Cinematographer Sudeep…

#KartikAaryan gave a marvelous performance in chandu champion. i always knew that he's a solid actor but i could've never imagined him giving a performance like this. his physical transformation was applause worthy but his deeply layered and nuanced performance surprised me a lot pic.twitter.com/qMBxpeXatR

There's never been a @kabirkhan film I haven't liked. The best kind of mainstream Hindi film for me is one that I can text my mum right after and say, Go watch it ❤️. #ChanduChampion makes you laugh, cry and feel. @Sumitaroraa kya likhte ho mere bhai 🤗

new york, ek tha tiger, bajrangi bhaijaan, 83 and now chandu champion kabir khan has always proved us that he's a fascinating filmmaker and i can't wait to witness his magic again on big screen tomorrow after almost 3 years. pic.twitter.com/FoQtWz8S6N

For any actor going into the skin of the character is very difficult but #KartikAaryan did it with such ease and aced it. I couldn’t be more proud of him as an actor for the terrific performance absolute and growth in #ChanduChampion 🫶🏻 pic.twitter.com/plfjuRMj0q

#ChanduChampion is Kabir Khan back at making damn good dramatic biopic, without diluting the reality. An incredible performance from Karthik Aaryan makes it feel meta, because no one expects him to be this good similar to how no one expects Murli to win. Great comeback for both!

In Chandu Champion, I struggled to discern Kabir Khan's narrative intent. The film reiterated clichéd perseverance themes, lacking the sharp storytelling of Khan — who used to redefine predictable plotlines. Despite its indispensable form, the movie felt disappointingly generic.

You just earned a new fan. It was my privilege to watch Chandu Champion.
It made my day and of my mom who has polio and has fought her entire life like a champion.
4.5/5 star - Bollywood's best Biopic till date. https://t.co/nTADncYtyz
#KabirKhan is such a sensible and skilful filmmaker that he’ll once again create havoc at the box office if he does a film with any SUPERSTAR. People who went to watch #ChanduChampion, 99% of them are loving it. But the challenge for such big film is to pull public to cinemas.

It's no surprise when bad movies fail at the box office. However, it's disheartening to see that great movies like 83 and Maidaan didn't perform well during their release. I fear that Chandu Champion will face the same fate. pic.twitter.com/Hzil0gO4q0
