Hima Das, a.k.a, the Dhing Express, is the rising new sportsperson of our country. At the young age of 19, she has achieved many accolades and we applaud her. The latest being the fifth gold medal that she clinched in the month of July itself, in Czech Republic.
It is interesting to note that initially, Hima Das was interested in pursuing a career in football, but didn’t see prospects for herself in the field in India. It was on her school P.E. teacher’s advice that she came into sprint running, much to everyone’s delight now. Das started her career by participating in the Commonwealth Games, 2018, at Gold Coast, Australia. She reached the finals there in the 400 m race.
Here’s a list of her accolades:
• She won her first gold for the country in the 400 m race, at the U-20 World Championship held in Tampere, Finland.
