To Jeon Jungkook, the golden maknae of BTS

Here's celebrating 25 years of Jeon Jungkook, one of the most talented K-Pop idols this world has ever seen!

Dear Jungkook,

I hope this letter finds you someday and brings you warmth, happiness, and positivity just the way you radiate all of that to everyone around you. There’s a saying, “It’s never too late to become a BTS fan, they always find you exactly at the time you need them the most”. Truer words have not been spoken. You came into my life when I needed a light to pull me out of the darkness that I was in. I know I am not a 10, but you always make me feel like I’m the most beautiful girl ever. My very first memory of you is from Sowoozoo 2021 when you were singing Still With You. Never had I ever heard a voice like that in my life. It sounded like something that would calm all my anxieties and take all my pain away from me. So now, quite often, I close my eyes, shut off from the world and only listen to your songs. Trust me, it’s the only thing keeping me sane. 

I remember when I was watching you guys record the intro song for BTS in the Soop season 1 and you suddenly started practicing these adlibs, that day is when I truly experienced what it feels like to get butterflies in your stomach. I’d be lying if I said I'm not envious of people who get to listen to you sing every day. Even apart from your singing, it’s astonishing how you’re good at everything you do. Your paintings look like you’ve been a connoisseur of art all your life. You dance with all your heart and enjoy performing on stage. All of us can collectively agree that we’ve watched ‘that part’ from Fake Love an abnormal amount of times. When I see your boxing videos, you look like you’re ready to get into the ring at any time. And you love cooking, I mean who can resist falling for a guy who’s an amazing cook?

You were just 16 years old when BTS made its debut. You sacrificed being a teenager and entered this crazy world of K-Pop. You could’ve let success get to your head but it shocks me how you’re still as humble as the first time you ever performed on stage. Seeing you constantly finding joy in the smallest of things makes me wonder if this is your first life.  I love how you get excited when you see something cool. I love that you love animals. I love the love you give back to your fans. I love the respect you have for all your Bangtan hyungs. I love how you look up to Namjoon. I love when you try your best to speak English. I love that you wrote us ‘My You’ as a gift. I love how you have the most precious smile and how I melt at the sight of you. I love your tattoos. I love your silly imitations of everyone. I love how you zone out just like me. I love how shy you get when you meet someone new. I love your sense of humor and I love your laughter. I love how you wear your heart on your sleeve. I love how you don’t have a single mean bone in your body. I love your pretty doe eyes. Lastly, I love that your memories follow me left and right. 

In just 25 years, there’s so much that you’ve achieved and there’s still so much to look forward to. You push me to step out of my comfort zone and work hard just like you. I hope we cross paths once in this lifetime. You’re the cause of my euphoria so I hope I'm yours too. Happy birthday Jungkook, you deserve the world.
