The third season of the slice of life show, Gullak released on SonyLIV on April 7. Let's find out what the Janta has to say about it!
A heartfelt story about a middle-class family whose hearts are way bigger than their bank accounts, Gullak is a web-series created by Shreyansh Pandey under the banner of TVF (The Viral Fever) for SonyLIV. It’s written by Durgesh Singh and directed by Palash Vaswani. The main characters portraying the wholesome 'Mishra Parivaar' features Jameel Khan as Santosh Mishra, the head of the family, Geetanjali Kulkarni as Shanti Mishra, the matriarch of the family who pulls off the funniest dialogues with a complete straight face, Vaibhav Raj Gupta as Anand Mishra, the eldest son who also gets a job this season for contributing to his family's well-being and lastly, Harsh Mayar as Aman Mishra the youngest, who is repelled by studies.
The freshness that Gullak brings to the screen is what makes it a success. It’s about a simple minded middle-class family who lives in a small town in North India and maybe that’s why it resonates with a large part of the audience. Going to work and hustling everyday, the smell of amazing home-cooked food, arguments between siblings and all of them living in a close space with just one air-conditioned room is how majority of the people live in our country. This story is an emotional yet accurate ode to that life without it being too dramatic. The love for the Mishra family really grows on you by the end of season 3 as you see them dealing with problems that life throws at them and their determination to strive for a better living.
