The 65th Grammy Awards aired on CBS on February 6 and we are taking a look back at times when artists took a toll on the Grammy.
The Grammy unpopular popularly called Scammy these days have always been the most celebrated yet controversial awards in the history of the music industry. Be it Grammy performances or the big wins of the night, people always have a lot of things to say about the awards. The Grammys started back in 1957 and over the years, people have been calling them out for snubbing, racism, and even favouritism. Grammy's audience have also noticed that the non-white artists of western music industry have always been weed out from the main or big categories. They apparently get a nomination otherwise but never a win. Ever since its inception only 11 black artists have won a Grammy and the audience thinks that it's not fair that someone's ethnicity is taken into consideration instead of their work!
Some may say Beyoncé can be the exception in all of this but it has been noticed that she has only been nominated and won under the "racialised" categories i.e. Best RnB and Best Rap and such categories are primarily dominated by people of colour. While the Grammys did that to Beyoncé, Selena Gomez was not even nominated for any categories until 2022. BTS fans speculate that they have also used artists like BTS to get free clout and marketing in the past which only pissed the audience off more as fans speculate they only invited them so that their fans would watch the show. Not only the Grammy's audience but some celebrities have also called them out. When it comes to getting what they deserve, some celebrities spilled the hard truth out and suggested that the Grammys should be titled 'Scammys' instead.

Here are 5 times when artists spill the beans on Scammy!
Nicki Minaj getting furious
In 2020, Nicki took to her Twitter letting her Barbs know how she was not even nominated under the Best New Artist category even though she had 7 of her songs charting on the Billboard.
Never forget the Grammys didn’t give me my best new artist award when I had 7 songs simultaneously charting on billboard & bigger first week than any female rapper in the last decade- went on to inspire a generation. They gave it to the white man Bon Iver. #PinkFriday

Lack of transparency feat. The Weeknd
Grammys owe it to a lot of artists but it surely owes more to The Weeknd and his fans! Abel also pointed how there's no transparency and no invitation to the awards if you're not nominated.
Collaboratively planning a performance for weeks to not being invited? In my opinion zero nominations = you’re not invited!

The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency...

Drake been cut off from his speech!
As he accepted his award for Best Rap Song, Drake was cut off after dissing the Grammys, and Graeme O’Neil wonders if it was a deliberate move by the Grammys.
Zayn points out favouritism
Zayn gets blunt and points out favouritism within the awards by saying "Unless you shake hands and send gifts, there’s no nomination considerations"
.@recordingacad are moving in inches and we need to move in miles. I’m keeping the pressure on & fighting for transparency & inclusion. We need to make sure we are honoring and celebrating “creative excellence” of ALL. End the secret committees. Until then ... #fuckthegrammys

Fuck the grammys and everyone associated. Unless you shake hands and send gifts, there’s no nomination considerations. Next year I’ll send you a basket of confectionary.

Machine Gun Kelly
MGK wasn’t hesitant to show the Recording Academy how he really felt when his 2020 pop-punk Billboard 200 No. 1 album with Travis Barker, Tickets to My Downfall was left out of the 2022 Grammy nominations list.
